SS/NA or SS/SC?

Hey guys im lookin to trade my car in later this year and I need some help. First off it doesnt matter if it is a 2 or 4 door SS(obviously 4 doors arent SC) but I was thinkin would it be better to get a 2.4 and put the $2,000 or so I'd save into a supercharger or turbo kit? Or is the SC a better platform to build from? Because a SC 4 door sounds pretty cool especially since they didnt make SC 4 doors. More sleeperish .

Haha yea I've seen your car quite a bit I'm just curious as to which is better to start with. Cause I'll save money if I get a 2.4 and I can throw on a sc or turbo kit and be faster for the same amount of money. Plus I like the 4 door ss's. But I like the SS/SC's alot too

I have been planning on turbo or sc my 2.4 ss. But, I wish I would have got a ss/sc and I would trade mine and $2,000 in a heartbeat for one. So, I would get the ss/sc.

Why not save yourself even more money and pick up a 4 door 2.2 and supercharge that? Or you can even go as far as snagging a 4 door cavalier and doing that route. But none the less whatever you pick eco's are all good to mod in some shape or form. I personally like the LSJ the best, but i also am a big fan of sleepers.

You might wanna look at a Pontiac g5 gt as they might be cheaper since pontiac is no more.

Actually in my area G5 GT's are more expensive than SS's . Crazy isn't it? But GT's are nice.

Do not trade in a 2.2 Cobalt for another 2.2 Cobalt. Ughh. If you can afford it, I'd wait it out and try to find an LNF.

Haha yea if I wanted a boosted 2.2 I'd save a lot of money and boost mine. But the lnf's are starting to get cheaper so I may wait a while and see.

yeah the G5 Gt's are nicer cars (for some reason).. but I like the look of the SS N/A more, I love the chrome wheels over the G5's. It just looks more aggressive than the G5.

Maybe since you have already had a cobalt you can experiment with other cars and mod them as well?

Wait for a SS/TC?

But if you have to pick, get the SS/SC. The LSJ is a great motor. And it's already built for the boost. Plus, they're dirt cheap anymore.

Thinkin about that as well. TC's are gettin in the 15k range around here so they may go down in the months to come when I'm really serious about trading my car in.

Dont forget the internals. if u SC ur limited to like 260 hp. if you get a TC, u get better built engine, alot of expandability, and also the suspension and brakes. u can slap a turbo or sc on but it wont turn like a TC would. just spend the money and grab a TC. read the TC section, tons of people love thier TC and 15k is good price.

Yep, never seen an SC with more than 260 on stock internals......

When you are piecing together kits...custom cars will need more repairs and are not as reliable IMO than a oem stock FI car. Also with a custom fi on a 2.4 you'll need tuning and parts plus if you live in cold winter/ hot summer you may need to swap between tunes, or have a tuner near by. IMO unless you know wtf youre doing get a oem FI car.

Depends on how much you want to spend as well though, because a tc/ss 4 door can be had for like 15k I bet maybe 16/17. But if you are looking for 10k range. get a ss/sc or a 2.4 ss.

There have been countless LSJ's over 260 Wheel HP on stock internals without issue . Hell there have been some turbo swapped cars well over 400 Whp on stock inert's . If you look close at LNF and LSJ spec's both have Forged Cranks and rods ..... yet both have cast piston's with oil squirters .

Honestly from what ive seen the 2.4s can handle more power and abuse than the 2.2's.

But with that said id do it in this order.

2.0T
2.0SC
2.4SS/NA/Sport
Something else
Something else
2.2

I drive a 2.2 everyday for a work vehicle. And everyday im eager as hell to get back into my 2.4!

I agree, for all the people saying the 2.2 is pretty much the same thing...well thats far from the truth

I drive the families 2.2 auto all the time and my god its substantially slower than the 2.4
