When the aurction ends the people wont have to pay. All they have to do is contact ebab and dispute the auction. Thats just like false advertising.

But he does state right in the auction that you are bidding on just pictures of the car only. Hmm.

well here's another thing to add to all of this. Sometimes on Ebay the seller has a person pushing the bid up to get a higher final offer. Looking at this auction it looks as if this is going on. The first bid was at $5,000, who in their right mind offers $5,000 as a first bid? The other thing I'm looking at is the number of bidders. There is only 2 bidders, looks as if the seller has 2 people bumping the bids up since no one else is bidding on it. I have seen sellers try to hide the real info before and when Ebay staff reviews the auction the seller typically gets suspended from Ebay for 3-6 months or the are permentally evicted from the site.

Well, it is listed in the "Automobilia, Original Photos" category, so they'll really have no one to blame but themselves

The sad thing is that this is simply preying on stupidity.

First the seller is stupid to think this will work,

Second the buyer is stupid for not paying attention.

That is assuming the two people who have bid on it are legit.

It does look kinda fishy being that the seller has only sold two things on there before, one of which was pictures of a Carrera GT for $0.99 and $35.00 s&h. Which, amazingly enough, was won by the current high bidder for the pictures of this Cobalt, so it does seem extremely suspicious.

The buyer would know it was pictures because he/she has already purchased a similar item from the selller, so why would someone bid 10 grand knowing it was only pictures?

Villain

The good thing is, the seller is only screwing himself. He will have to pay a nice chunck of change to ebay sellers fees for something that doesnt even get paid for.

Wouldn't he get a refund of at least some of those fees if the buyer doesn't complete the transaction?

From the way i understand it, you have to relist the auction, then ebay will refund the previous fees, then charge you with the new fees, If IT SELLS. So.... he had better end the auction early, or pray it sells for $.99 the second time around.

I just checked and eBay has already removed that listing. Looks like they're on the ball.
