Is it an ss or an ss/sc?

I seen this cobalt SS (or so I thought) - it looked just like the ss, and did not look like the sc, but under the SS emblems, it had another emblem. I couldn't read it, but it was the same size of the emblem on the sc models that read: Supercharged. - does that make since?

Yeah we'd need a picutre to really tell.

How exactly did it look different than the SC version? For 2006 the SS moved to the bottom of the doors instead of in the middle of the doors. The GM emblem on every 06 cobalt I've seen is a tiny square behind the front wheel wells. Did it still have the bumpers/side trim/bumper of the SC? If it didn't have any of the body moldings on it and had a different wing then it's probably not an SC. That doesn't mean it didn't have a Supercharged badge on it. Nothing stops idiots from trying to pass their cars off as some thing they're not.

I'll see if I can check it out again and be sure - It looked like an SS as far as the smaller wing, and polished wheels, and cloth interior. It was a manual tranny.

For some reason people like to take SS badging and body stuff and put it on the LS. If it had cloth interior it was most likely an LS - an SS fake. Can't wait for all the posts on other forums about how someone smoked an SS in their V6 Mustang......

I forgot to mention that this was a new car on the dealer lot. Maybe I was just seeing things. I'll cruise over there later on and check it out.

The SS non S/C has a cloth interior option. A woman that works where my grandma lives has one.

budget and insurance my friend not all of us can afford the go big stuff haha

the other thing i noticed on the SS (2.4) is that the front bumper is the SS/SC without a lip on it.. and.. it has a grille on it. I think that, with the Chrome wheels and wing will be the biggest noticable difference between the SS and the SS/SC

damn.. now i have to refer my car as the SS/SC

You're missing one big point - not everyone wants to go big...whether it's because they want an automatic transmission, smaller wing, or just a winter/daily driver (without worrying about snow tires) while their vette, porsche or m3 is in storage for the winter months...whatever it is, there's usually a reason.

More importantly, GM capitalized on this, and as long as people buy them, GM will keep producing them..

or you could go bigger and get the non supercharged and throw on an aftermarket supercharger or even a turbo and be well over the hp from a ss/sc. id rather make a sleeper and put your "go big or go home" comment out the doors. haha ill be investing my money into the hahn turbo which would nearly gain me atleast 80hp so id be running just as a ss/sc, if not quicker.

^^ i can't beleive a turbo is only making 80whp, man.......what a waste........do your internals, and all that stuff, my buddy has a turbo civic making 350whp with internals and a big turbo....80 HP will make you barely keep up with a Honda Accord......im a Cobalt fan, I have one, but come on, dotn waste money on a turbo that's barely gonna push you anywhere......

btw..i saw an SS non s/c in that purple amethyst, what a fugly color, auto, cloth, looked like a badged up LS with the chromie dish wheels......eeeeek

no its giving u 80 extra hp without any other parts. just the turbo, so if u upgraded your pistons, rings, throw on some headers, exhaust, might need a fuel filter... you should be way over 80 extra hp.

its all good man... its like the same thing with dsm's... when I had my Eagle Talon TSI people would always ask if its ESI, TSI, or TSI AWD. So im used to tellin people, when they ask if its supercharged. It doesn't bother me that much that they have a non supercharged version, cause they do that with a lot of cars.
