SS to SS, those whom have done it....(LSJ to LNF)

Truly hate to even make this thread but I'm becoming worn on my car and I spend 80+ miles a day driving it.

Been thinking about an SS/TC sedan so I'll keep the gas mileage, and finally have 4-doors. Sick of the coupe thing.

I've already prepped a lot of stuff on my car for trade-in as I was looking at doing such month's ago. I then realized it's a sensible daily driver and I'd like to pick up another bike this Spring.

However I also realize it's an '05 with 80k on it, and has the potential to cost me some money here soon as in clutch, whom knows what else, etc. I've just became tired on it. It's developed stupid quirks. I love the blower and powerband, second Eaton car so meh I feel dedicated, I've also pulled even with two TC's that dyno'd 40whp more than me thanks to the powerband and gearing. I fear I'll miss that.

The TC is 4 years newer, warranty left, has a couple extra doors, nicer seats, aux. and USB built-in, and a couple other features above. Is it worth it though? It's still a Cobalt. I've already looked into modding the TC to the point of where I'd be happy, and it'd be relatively cheap (as in less than $1,000).

Decisions, decisions .

If payments are the same, and you're not going to suffer financially from it, i say do it.

Payments would be a tad more as of course I'm negative on the SC, but not concerned about that aspect it'd still be cheaper than purchasing my two-wheeled toy.

Does the benefit outweigh the extra cost?

The extra cost could easily come from the LSJ car too with it's mileage, and being I drive 80+ miles a day it easily could in terms of just being comfortable, and gas mileage as I'm sure the turbo car will pull a bit more. Not concerned too much there.

Not completely, but it's been well thought through and the financial part doesn't bother me.

It's going from a Cobalt to a Cobalt, I honestly can't find another car that'd be economical and as fun though. I also work for a GM dealer, so I'm trying to stay GM unfortunately, not to mention it's all I've ever owned.

To be honest, I wouldn't go from SS to SS. If you're tired of the current one, you're still basically buying the same thing. It looks the same, the interior feels the same (minus the seats). Personally if I wanted something different I wouldn't buy an upgraded version of the same thing. I'd want something totally different. Maybe like an Evo or STI (if you still want good fuel economy and 4 doors)

That's a bit different. You're getting huge power gains.

Do you really want another $15-20k loan on another cobalt? I thought about it briefly but its honestly not worth it for what is really 99% the same car. If you're going go trade, trade up!

Doesn't the STI still only get like 25 on the highway? and 18 in the city.

Cool cars for sure, just I don't beleive as economical.

The little more debt I go into could be less in the end. Right now I'm parting down my LSJ, I'll profit off of that. I'll pretty much break even and if I was going to get an LNF pay for it's mod with the old LSJ profit.

The other debt, well clutch and trans in my 80k car could easily come and bite me in the ass, and the new prospect has powertrain warranty up until 100k/2013/2014ish. Plenty beneficial. Plus a car with 15k>80k. I can at least control what happens to a newer car.

As for the STi/Evo, love them, but I do work for Chevrolet and you're talking an extra 6 grand there, and even more for comparable mileage.

Personally I'd only switch GM car wise to the Camaro.. But thats because my whole family has them and I love the power it has compared to our cars lol plus you should get a discount on that one depending on what you do for them it may be a bit or not much.. My dad got his with a 3000 discount..

well i loved my sc, i did the reseach and FOR THE MONEY i would still prefer the lnf preformance wise over the others in the catagory of forced induced 4 bangers. i know the evos and sti have awd over our wrong wheel drive but we still can hold our own in roll races. might look the same but we all know its different, motor, suspension, brakes, the lnf is overall a better car.... still hate the stupid plastic rattle but i love my tc lol but i know thats only my opinion

I went from a 2.7 60's fully bolted and tuned 94000 LSJ cobalt to a brand new 09 SS/TC LNF and added GMS1, its great, may look very similar but in terms of driving and handling, its a whole different animal. Glad I did that upgrade. If you're okay with the Cobalt in general I say go for it, might want to look at a 2.0L Turbo Regal or a Saab 9-3 see if you can get GMS or something on that. Both great cars with same engine.

Balances out in the end because though you can fit more ****** in a sedan, less will be interested because the sedan is so much uglier than the coupe to begin with.
