SS to SS, those whom have done it....(LSJ to LNF)
go for it dude...i just traded my 07 LSJ for a new '10 TC on 12/10 and I love it. My payment also went down by about $25/month with the tire/wheel and extended warranties/gap.
I loved my LSJ but the LNF is better imo
new car feels so much smoother while driving and has better features than my old car.......bluetooth, rpd, better seats and brakes (except the rears which have squealed since the car had 400 miles on it, now has about 1,200)

the evo/sti...ya I tried looking into that. @#$@#$ crazy expensive new. used? ya i dont need someone elses FI used issues. The cobalt ss/tc new can be had under 20k...so why not? idk I dont like my SS for comfort or features...god theres no features/options. But the handling, power and braking is fantastic for a cheap car. Thats why I'm keeping it.
i went from an 81k LSJ modded pretty good to a brand new 4dr SS/TC sedan and i love it, ya i pay a little more but the car is awesome...nice having 4 doors, and the same gas mileage, plus the little add ons as u mentioned...and i LOVE playing with cars that think there badass and boom they loose to my 4 door cobalt haha...i have some money into mine as u can see in my sig...but i only have 5k miles on mine and it is in the garage stored...still worth it IMO....i have no complaints what so ever thats for sure
I went from a GM stage II SS/SC with intake, exhaust and a 2.99..... to my 09 SS/TC and i was disappointed when the SS/TC was stock ( part of that was my SS/TC was a dog till it had 1500 miles on it ) . The SS/TC is a great car ...... but it just isn't that huge of an improvement over the SS/SC that you will say "holy ****" when just daily driving it .
Maybe if you Auto X or something you will see it in lap times ......but in day to day driving you really can't feel it . They stop the same (except under abusive condition's ) and they handle comparatively . You will feel the TC rotate into a corner better and it seems to give more feedback threw the steering wheel than the SS/SC but it's not like getting out of a VW bus and into a C6 vette .
I fell in love with the TC after it was tuned ..... it changes everything . 60-80 ftlbs and 40-60 HP is a calibration away . It's a totally different pull .... with a good tune you really have to make sure that road conditions are good or it will try and spin in 3rd lol. 2nd gear 40 mph rolling burnout's are addicting . Just don't expect to be to be floored after driving one that's stock.
I know this might not be the most popular review with some of the TC folks ....... but if you've never had a SS/SC or have some miles behind the wheel of one.... keep an open mind . The SS/SC gets overlooked and underestimated by alot of people .

Rukkee, another great opinion, thanks!
Not swapping for the turbo factor, so turbo'ing my LSJ isn't a solution. It'll just be a faster car that's shown wear, and said parts would just end themselves quicker. My car right now is pretty respectable for it's setup, mid 13's and traps 107's. So the performance gain isn't going to be there with a stock tc and I realize this.
However I already priced GMS1 @ the dealer I work for and it'd be really the thing I'd do rather quickly and be content for warranty's sake.

I didn't even read your sig before hand lol..... yeah you will be going backwards a little to start out , but after stage 1 you will be a tick or 2 quicker . The time in your sig is beyond respectable for a 2.9 IMHO.
I also thought about doing a turbo swap on my SS/SC but I really didn't want to take the chance of screwing up my daily driver .
To be honest, I wouldn't go from SS to SS. If you're tired of the current one, you're still basically buying the same thing. It looks the same, the interior feels the same (minus the seats). Personally if I wanted something different I wouldn't buy an upgraded version of the same thing. I'd want something totally different. Maybe like an Evo or STI (if you still want good fuel economy and 4 doors)
They are tuned to run rich from the factory, they have extremely short gears, they are AWD, and they are shaped like bricks.
My friend has an '05 STi, he got 17MPG on a 150 mile trip averaging 75MPH. Not good at all for a daily. Not to mention the cost of tires, brakes, and maintenance for those things.
