Considering a cobalt ss
As the title says, I'm considering a cobalt ss.
I'm 20 and in college right now and I have a internship for the next 8 months so I'll have a decent amount of money to spend come next summer. It would be a dd and be driven during the winter (in Milwaukee) so fwd and good mileage is a plus. Anything people can tell me would be helpful. Any other cars you'd recommend? SC vs TC? Mod-ability? I'd also like to take it to the track occasionally but mainly it'd be to have a fun daily to keep for a while.
Thanks

TC was my first brand new car and i cant see my self selling it. Some people have had a lot of problems with theirs while i've had hardly any issues and none of them being remotely serious. I was also 20 when i bought mine, i'm 22 and about to gradute and all my friends LOVE riding in my car. I did put a hefty downpayment on mine to keep my note under 300 hundred a month, but as you stated you'll have good money with your internship. So my opinion yes find one and buy it you'll love it!

If you get an SS, no matter which it is, buy a set of winter wheels and get snow tires. It makes a world of difference, plus the stick summer tires on the TC are worthless in the snow.
I live my tc though, I'm happy with my purchase every day.

I've got a SC, and wish I would have gotten a TC, but the price was a little high for me at the time, as we needed a good second car...
That being said... I love my SC, I've had little to no issues with it, and the stuff that was wrong with it, was shotty aftermarket stuff done by the previous owner.
But yea get a TC if you can afford one. Ohh and I avarage about 26MPG in my SC, as long as I can keep my foot out if.

Get a TC. I'm assuming you'll want to keep warranty and the TC's GM Stage 1 kit is warranty approved and still makes you unbelievably fast for what it is. No-lift-shift is fun too. Just make sure you get LSD and maybe one with a RPD unit (replaces the boost gauge and adds a selection of digital gauges on the a-pillar.
I get about 12L / 100km but I have a heavy foot and hit even the slightest boost a lot. I've had 9-10L / 100km if I was vigilant about not hitting any boost what so ever. I drive it in the snow too, it's perfectly fine. Taking off isn't always the best, but cornering and braking I never slide unless I intend to. Just make sure you have winter tires, the stock Continentals have ABSOLUTELY no right touching snow.
Just make sure you get an insurance quote before you go out and buy one. I bought my 2010 fully loaded TC about 4 months ago now for $22,500 with $11,000 down and it was a lease buy back with 3300 kms on it (just hit 6700 today). My payments are $253 a month for 5 years but my insurance is $497 a month. Same as you, 20 years old but with one 22 km/over ticket. Don't let that scare you though, my friend that had a staged 09 who was 20 at the time, his insurance was only $300 a month.
