SS v. LS: Whats the difference??
SS v. LS: Whats the difference??
I was wondering what the difference was between the SS balts and the LS balts other than the body kit and springs....
but what else is different on the SS compared to the LS??(exclude the 2.0/2.4L motor(supercharger) vs. the 2.2L)

well...
the suspensions on all three are different. the hubs and brakes are different (for the most part)
the SS cars have better standard equipment, different dash trim, different exhausts.
the SS SC has even more, different transmission, different steering rack.

Compared to your base the SS has:
Difference fascia (front and back), side skirts, fog lights, no exterior trim, different badges, lower ride height due to better springs, better shocks and struts, better sway bar, bigger rims, better tires, bigger brakes, 4 disc brakes, bigger engine, bigger throttle body, better exhaust manifold, better down pipe, better exhaust, darker interior, leather option, heated seats, different computer (tunable), better stereo system
that should be a good start

what shocks and struts are on the ss??
and the manifold can be put on an LS, right?

thats not entirely true about the dash trim. my dash trim is identical in my LS to both of the SS's (excluding the SS badge) and it came factory. Also my insterment cluster is identical to that of the SS/NA (white gauge face w/ 140mph speedo) that came standerd on the 05 LS's w/ the sport package. Even the exhaust tip was that of the SS/NA with the LS sport package's
the tips are different on the 06s
Like i said, I have an 05. the stock muffler was identical to the stock muffler of the 05 SS/NA including the tip. Was part of the sport package for the 05 LS's. some other things that came standard on the sport packaged LS was that i found out i had no govenor (found that out racing an eclipse on the interstate when i hit 125 and then hit the rev limiter and watched him pull away)
LOL you beat me to it Debbie!
And I have NEVER seen an SS tip "standard" on a lower model. I've seen the lower models with the high polished tip, but it's different from the SS/NA tip.
Brakes are WAY different.
LS = front disc, rear drum
SS = 4 wheel disc
They're NOT easily converted either for a plethora of reasons.

but... why bother?
I understand what you're saying but I would think there would be a lot more roadblocks in swapping with a 2005 LS. I know there have been changes and upgrades, I'd just want to make real darn sure everything was copasetic with each other. Brakes are one area you don't want to "experiment" with.

but, for the cost, effort, and the risk factor... there isn't any real reason to.
even if you were road racing, it would be better to just beef up the brakes already there, and if you need even more, you probably need more car.
