Stage 1 kit or stage 1 clutch?
Sorry if this is kind of a noob question, but i'm getting a lot of different opinions from people about this and could use the advice from some Cobalt vets.
I'm debating between getting a stage 1 Exedy clutch kit and the GM stage 1 upgrade package for my 06 SS/SC. Here are links to both.
Exedy clutch:
EXEDY CLUTCH KIT STAGE 1 05-08 CHEVY COBALT ALL & SS: eBay Motors (item 360296565110 end time Sep-09-10 09:15:34 PDT)
GM Performance Stage 1 kit:
GM Performance Stage 1 Performance Cobalt SS Kit: eBay Motors (item 300454738250 end time Sep-09-10 13:34:15 PDT)
I want to get the package that will set me for the most HP gain. There isn't anything wrong with the stock clutch I have in it now, i've heard upgrading the clutch/transmission is the first thing you should do when modding a car though. On the other hand, i've got a guaranteed performance boost with the stage 1 upgrade. Price is a factor though, seeing as i'm paying nearly $150 more. Same time, I would assume installing the GM kit would be easier, quicker and cheaper than installing a new clutch and would come with fewer risks.
What do you guys think?
