you looking to go with different year/equip stock wheel or "custom"/non-airbag?

-"stock type" route, would be relativly easy so long it has the same shaft fitment

-"custom"/non-airbag, would be more work typically

From what I understand, if you're swapping same model year (i.e. 08' SS/TC wheel on an 08' LT) it should just be plug-and-play. I'd recommend having another member confirm this, however.

I want to go with all momo interior, so i want to get a new steering wheel from momo (no airbag). I was really just wondering of the adapter kits they got to change to an aftermarket steering wheel is all you need to install a new steering wheel. What has me curious is when i tried a swap like this on my mustang it would have cost up to 1000 dollars just for a change like that, cause appearently on the mustang you would had to change the steering wheel shaft and everything

Isn't it illegal to take an airbag out of a car the is originally equiped with one?

got mine from nrginnovations.com. I also did a write up featured in the current Domestic Driver mag. Took about 30-45 mins to install, you lose the airbag however.

I want to upgrade my 08 wheel to an 08 leather wheel with radio controls but if I get the 06 SS/SC i'm looking at, it'd be pointless.

I agree I was told it was and let your insurance company find out theyll love to increase your rate and if you dont tell them and your head gets knocked off in a wreck dont feel bad when they dont pay the medical bills because you didnt report the change lol sounds unwise to me I want a different wheel too but too much trouble.

well here is the answer to the fitment questions

no not ANY wheel will work, any momo "style" wheel will work ...has to have the momo bolt pattern which about 85% of wheels have. Momo steering wheels are in the range of $200+ but in order to get the price of the exact wheel you want, email sales@cobalt-addiction.com and kenny will quote you direct with shipping etc.

you can get the pricing at nrginnovations.com, MOMO only works with MOMO as Badgirl stated. As well as NRG only work with NRG.

I got the wheel (Momo Race) local for about $225.00 (Can) I think...might have been more.
I got the adapter from Cobalt Addiction, cuz it was the only place I knew would have the right one. I suggest you order it from CA since everyplace I went to gave me a different part # for the adapter.

if i'm not mistaken, you just need to take the airbag out....carefully. and then unbolt the wheel. seems simple. but its kind of a long process

but i've also been drinking and everything that goes with it since about 8pm last night hahahahah

you could get an "aftermarcket" cruise control setup. but yes, more or less every function that you get from the stock steering wheel will be lost unless they can be replaced with a custom setup
