Super VS. Turbo

I was wondering which is better, i know the difference but not sure which is better in the cobalt, mainly because seeing that the ss/tc is coming out i wondering if i should wait for that or just get an 07 supercharged.

There are pro's and cons for each. From what I've seen, Turbos have WAY more potenial but then again how often do you here a supercharger? Like i said pros and cons for each, do a search.

BTW welcome to the forum

As much as I like superchargers, I have to admit that a turbo is more efficient at producing power than a supercharger.

But I do love that whine compared to the psh...

I definatley love the turbo on the cobalt more then the supercharger well at least the M62, because running almost the same amount of boost as I was on the 2.85" pulley maybe a pound more im making much more power.

the right size turbo will beat out a supercharger in almost all cases

i think there are very few choices for superchargers therefore turbos are an easier way to go with higher power prospects due to the large thermal efficiency. I personally like superchargers due to their more predictable powerband and low end torque gains, and with the Twinscrew and the TVS supercharger coming onto the market, i feel that theres a little more competition with efficiency.

for 4 bangers like the SS turbos tend to fare better, because of the difference in acceleration off the line in lower RPMs from a lighter 4 cyl. The boost lag in a turbo tends to end up letting the waste gate open at around 2500-3000, which wouldn't be as bad as it would on a heavier type of car. Plus the turbo is better because of the lack of power in 4 bangers compared to a v8 will help you keep traction when the gate does open, releasing all that power and boost at once.

Please correct me if im wrong anywhere, im still learning on this stuff.

I don't need popcorn, I can go to sleep, and I'll wake up in the morning knowing this thread will be 6 pages long by that time.

I've loved turbos since I saw them inside of my fathers 18 wheelers at his company. Although they are HUGE providing around 1700lbs of tq, still fun and efficient. Superchargers are cool because they are less common than a turbo, but turbo is generally more promising in terms of power gains.
