newbie to the site from NJ, im thinking about placing an order for an ss/sc arrival blue with the sunroof.. i want to take delivery around mid june, early july should i order now? how much of a deposit would i need to put down? I would probably be doing a smart buy for 48 mo, itll only be a wkd car and a summer car my 04 cavalier is my daily. Id appreciate some info. Im also going to be signing up to a local driving school, i havent driven stick in like 4 years, and even then i sucked lol

In my opinion you'd better order right this very second and maybe if you're lucky you will get the car by then. Otherwise, it will probably be a bit longer.

I gave my dealer $500 down on my order(arrival blue, blue inserts, sunroof). They told me it was enough, if I didn't like the car they wouldn't have a problem to sell it. I ordered in feb. And still no word!!!!

a lot of people who ordered their cars before production started are getting the shaft. i know now from the NY NJ area that cars basically are on track with the 6-8 week estimated delivery time. but like every body said order it now, nothing is guaranteed.
i have also posted this a few times click on this link www.chevrolet.com and on the left hand side you will see a section called vehicle locator. this will allow you to locate dealerships that are current holders of the car...look around at a few and if they have what ur looking for ur better off doing it that way

W00t. You have a mac! Macs are the best computers to get. The object dock looks good on the side, I might move it there to make my widows bigger. What are you running? I've got a 15" Powerbook G4, about one year old in July. 1GB Ram, superdrive, it's real nice. Sorry...off topic.

Yeah, I was wondering how much to put down for order too, I got enough, so about $500 sounds good.

I have a Mac too. Powerbook g4 15" I love it

As far as the deposit goes, I put down a $500 deposit. I plan on putting alot more down for my down payment though.
I would think $500 is plenty for a deposit..
Ask your dealer, he'd know for sure.

The $500 can be used as money down, BUT only if and when you take delivery by 5-31-05.
If your order (car) is not at the dealer by 5-31-05 the $500 expires. Then it's not worth crap. And no it can not be used as a $500 DEPOSIT on a ordered car.

This is the response i got from my dealer:

Hi Joel, in order to make an order is required $1,000 deposit. The time frame of a cobalt SS it depends of the allocation that we can get for you. Cobalt SS are coming out for late summer and if you need one you need to get in the list.

1000 seems a little much for just an order.

Deposit??

Most dealers will take a $500 deposit for a normal order. The only time that they may want more is if it is something strange that they will have a hard time selling, obviuosly not a problem with the SS.

My dealer didn't require a deposit. It was based on "my word". Cool by that! Love Henderson! Arrival Blue SS/SC count down for delivery!

I didn't have to put down a deposit either. I wouldn't put down a deposit on a car that GM is having a pickle of a time delivering,
