I'd prob offer 5k and see if he'll let it go for 6-6.5k

The miles are low but with a salvaged title, you'd have almost no resale value for it.

who cares if the damage was fixed or not fixed, fact is on paper the cars fucked. Resale value is **** not to mention it just destroys 75% of your customer base if you ever did want to sell.

When people ask for the carfax and see that yellow exclamation mark under accident then just throw the paper down and say no thanks or drop the price $2000. Even when its a 10 mph collision that needed just a headlight and foglight replaced and the corner of the bumper painted $700 repair and the cars worthless to them.

It may seem like im pissing in the wind but just because you dont care about resale value by no way warrants over paying for a car. Unless the car has been plastidipped gunmetal primer.....(who remembers? trololoL)

Well if he intends to mod the hell out of it and run it till the wheels fall off, I'd buy the car(with a lower offer of course) The mileage is really nice and if it was only hail damage on the carfax, that car for 5-6.5k would be one hell of a steal.

^^^ i think we are all saying the same thing sort of, if ur goin to mod it and keep it forever buy it but dont pay more than 6-7 for it i would say thats even pushing it. Personally i wouldnt pay more than 5-5.5 for it as its really not worth much as a salvage titled car.

Honestly if you can get it for 7k it's a good deal. Who gives a **** about resale value when it's a 7k car. If you drive it for 2 years, you got your money worth.

I DO. When I have a 2007 4 Door Cobalt LS base model with 80k and it has the same trade in value of a 99 Toyota Corolla with 200k miles..... Seriously, this car gets 40 mpg has plenty of life left and the trade in is like $4000 bucks. THAT SUCKS. It has an accident on the car fax which it needed a headlight and front bumer... bullshit.

7k is too much. I think 6 maybe 6.5k is reasonable and only because the mileage is low. As long as there is no structural damage that is...

Well in that case, that sucks. But the way that I am seeing it is that you are not buying a 25-30k car that you may drive for a couple years and want a resale value of 20k ya know? I mean if you buy a car for 7k and drive it for a couple years, I feel like you have got your money worth. Meaning that I don't think for 7k it is a waste of money. I think it is a pretty good deal...just my $.02

Idk i think 7k is a fair price. I'm only saying I don't think people buy a 7k car thinking about resale value. I know that I wouldn't. I would look for resale value if I were buying a 25-30-25k car, but not a 7k lol

I dunno about you guys, but I buy cars to keep. If you wanna keep buying and selling every two years, get a lease.

If the OP is planning on buying and keeping until it's wheels fall off, $7k may be fair if it lasts 2+ years with usual maintenance. I'm with kdub on this.

YES! The way that I see it is, with the low miles that are on it, the car should be able to last. I feel like this car has a few years left in it. **** there are pleanty of guy's in their LSJ's that are over 200k.

Sorry I meant "repaired" for the door and replaced for the hood (requires welding and what not). At least the guy who gave me the quote said he won't do more than 3 per panel. And the door rail or some part of the door is extremely difficult to work on and requires hours if not more and they charge you more or don't do it at all.
If the damaged parts can be taken off by yourself it's worth it. Quote to fix my hood, 600$. Quote from junkyard for another hood (color matched) = 150$. That's what I mean.

OK EVERYONE READ THIS!

So he took it to a dealership to do a check before he sells.

Got brakes done, alignment, compression check, just to make sure everything is good, no frame damage or anything so it's not a cover. BUT!

It did need a new transmission. He said he'd put in an Lsd transmission from the dealer if i bought. So 54k miles with a new trans. He said something in the trans snapped. So 54k no frame or engine damage, new trans for 7k ?
