Tires

Going to have to replace the tires on my SS/SC soon and am open to suggestions. Main concern is rain traction. The stockers were not a great rain tire. Second concern is price. I am not looking to spend 200 plus per tire. Just a reasonably good wet/dry tracton tire. Anyone have any experience with the Kuhmo Ecsta ASX?

If you like the sound of truck tires. Hated mine and switched to Potenza Re 760's and have more grip, smoother ride and are sooooo quiet. Highly recommended.

Ive got Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105s they are 122 apiece on tirerack I have about 4500 miles on them now and they still look brand new where as my stockers were 3/4 gone by that point. They are an all season but they have way better traction than the Contis. In the wet they are very good I can maintain 65-70 when the rain is pouring and it doesnt feel unstable in the slightest. Ill definately be buying them again.

Best tire for you would be hankook vents v12 ecosystem. They're cheap and have great wet traction. Also very quiet

i just got Goodyear Eagle GT's not too long ago and they're pretty nice, nice dry and wet traction and fairly quiet too compared to others.

Agreed. I had them on my old car and they were a good cheap summer tire. Excellent rain traction. Took that car through buckets of rain and never had a problem. The V12s are another good choice that I've heard nothing but good things about.

I second the Goodyear Eagle GTs. All around good tire except for treadlife.. Mine lasted about 15k.

The ASX's weren't bad for the ones I had on my G5 (195/60R15). I only really got a half of a summer out of them since I had ran my stockers up to that point, then ended up never getting them back out after that winter (Since the G5 was a write off that winter and I got the Cobalt)

I currently run 235/40R18 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's. They grip like a **** (especially in rain) at about $145 each. Only caveat is the treadwear is not the greatest since they're rather soft/sticky (I'm probably only going to get 3 summers out of it with the way I drive. My "Summer season" is Mid April to Early November.)

I've got a set of Conti EC DWS's 235-40-18ZR with only 500 miles on them for sale if your interested. Will be posting on the classifieds soon.
50,000mile warantee and made my 08 Balt a much better driver with very little handling sacrifice.
