top end power on lsj's

top end power on lsj's

So i was driving home early this morning from work and a challenger rolls up next to me. I'm going about 75-80 dude swerves over in my lane playing with me i drop into third gear and unload. i hit 95 shift into 4th 115 shift into 5th then my power just trails off. it took so long for me to hit 125 the challenger blew past me and i couldn't do a thing. He's a plant operator so i know he has work done to the car but i was really disappointed that in the top end it seemed like i had no power really. I didnt expect to beat him because im bone stock. Do we really have that much restriction when it comes to power on our top end?

top end power either need a v8 or a big turbo, or i guess a tvs. :P

lol trying to accelerate in 5th. thats a cruising low rpm gear. its not going to take you anywhere. especially being under stock power.

just trying to continue to accelerate in 5th just seemed like once i hit 115 it was struggling to break 125

like i said i didnt expect to beat him just thought we had more umph. I know my cars sweet spot is between 45-90 just didnt expect that once i shifted into 5th it would just die out thats all

stock we really run out at about 100. 4th is okay. but 5th just don't even bother.

i agree feel stupid having a speedo that goes up to 160 when the car peters out at 125

I try not to do **** like this but at that point the guy was pissing me off. what can i add to get better top end power besides a tvs

all my money is going to my 57 right now so until that project is finished im kind of limited on cash to add performance mods. i have another thread with my future plans just have to knock some things off my list before i can go crazy with my balt.

im hearing this more and more..
i know a guy that hit 200km/h and then a stock 09 civic si passed him.. i thought LSJ's were good for 157mph top end? where? on a big hill with a tailwind?

a simple stage kit and bolt owns can get u to 250 to 260 and u wont be as slow then.

Never said I expected to hit anywhere in the 150's just figured at least 130-135 before it petered out. like I said up top just felt disappointed that we don't have more top end that's all

not saying you were expecting to tap it out but still.. i figured 135-140 would be easy and it'd slow after that.

idk though when i was stock 120 seemed pretty easy and according to a few sources itll do 160 stock. that would probly take MILES though lol.

stage 2 really helps that issue though, ive seen 155+ gps verified and it didn't take too long. you really gotta wind out 4th though, and having the rpm limit raised some helps get you a little extra out of every gear

who cares anyways? I mean I race here and there but a ******* 80mph roll? I heard it's never good to really boost that much in 5th anyways.
