top speed.
I have an LT and got it up to about 112-114.. I don't think I'm gunna push it any faster than that.. and that was on an empty highway with nothing but a Mazda 3 next to me for part of the way..
148 is governor on SS/SC.......I got a ticket going 157 in mine so you tell me but mine was not stock and had a governor set at 220mph.
well guys i have hit 155 in fourth gear at 7200 so I cant imagine what fifth gear will top out at at 7200 rpm,BTW my car had the intense stg 3,corsa sport catback, catless downpipe, aem dryflow with airbox mod and devils own meth kit along with a clutchmasters stg 3 clutch and flywheel so the top end is there. According to a 7200 rpm limiter and the gearing of the tranny the cars should top out at around 170-175 with enough horsepower
ok so i just found out that i can get my car up to 110 without the governor downshifting me when i hit 110, i felt like i could go faster but i let off anyways. my spedo only goes up to 120. anyone know how fast a 2.2L sedan LT1 with no upgrades other then tires can actually go
btw, this was on a closed highway being used to make a short movie by me and some people

Here's the link where I found the info.

And here's is the quoted text "And what about the performance? According to Chevrolet Cobalt marketing manager Jeff Haag, the SS Supercharged does 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds and runs the quarter mile in an impressive 14.9 seconds. What's more, Haag says the SS Supercharged isn't required to have a speed limiter because the car comes equipped with Z-rated tires, allowing a top speed of 143 mph."
I don't belive that corvettes are governed.. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
And to explain the top speed being drag limited,
A drag-limited car reaches its top speed prior to its maximum engine speed in top gear. In a drag-limited car, the engine reaches a point in its rpm range where it cannot produce enough power to overcome aerodynamic drag.

that info is not quite correct, look at how many ppl are driving stock ss/sc s and are getting low 14s, I have timeslips from when mine was stock and I was running 14.6s
modified balts will make more power so there top end will be greater than 143mph
I have personally had my balt to over 150 mph (could be slightly off, not stock tires) or 147 mph (on stock tires)
i travel several long straightaways (one being almost 4 miles) on my way home at night
i've done 130 but it was going across a bridge and thats all she gave in 4th gear at 6500rpm and wouldnt go nemore, even if i shifted into 5th no chance reaching its tops, damn wind and high rise spoiler lol
wtf... how do you get caught going 157? not to mention, how did you not get buttfucked with charges? like losing your license forever sort of charges
