Well the truth is that those things are pretty much garbage. They market them as if they provide huge benefits for your engine, stating things like "increased power" and "better fuel economy".

The bottom is that all they really do is block the incoming air in your intake tubing. It may sort of "spiral the air", but by the time that air goes through the intake tubing, down into the TB, through the intake manifold, and into the engine, the original "spiral" effect is all but gone.

If these things really worked, wouldn't if make sense for the manufacturer to install them in the vehicles from the factory? They don't, and the reason is because they are just another gimmick piece of trash that unsuspecting consumers get tricked into buying

My brother used to be a mechanic for Ford and he got an F-150 in with a crank/no start issue. After finding the TPS voltage wrong for idle and start, he removed the intake tubing to find a Tornando missing one of the fins....it was stuck in the throttle body.

oopps!

Yeah its funny cause I wasnt sure what it was when I got them. My friend had them said they did nothing in his car so he gave them to me. I actually got a little boost on gas mileage but no "30 HP GAINS!" as advertised.

Bottom line... Should I go with it or not!!....?

I'm looking to increase my gas Mi. and maybe get like 5 to 10 more HP with a KnN filter also, out of it???

I would just save the money. Really it seems like 1 out of 100 people have any sorts of results. I got like i said, only a few mpg gain like 2-3 max. Powergain is nothing. Honestly you can spend your money in much better ways.

Save your money. Dont buy it, its crap. I got lucky.

What can I do to make my HP go from 145 to at least 150 155...?? And of course the Tq will go up also I am assuming....

Like I said... I'm going to rip out that air filter that's in that air box and put the KnN right back inside that box... I could go with a cone but I dont want to drill any holes for the sensor that is hooked up right at the top of the air box.... So all this aside... what else!??

Let me just say.. I'M NOT LOOKING TO GO CRAZY.. as much as I would luv to.. But money is an issue and I'm leasing or smart buying the car... So, it realy isn't mine untill 4 years later when I have the option of buying it.... (( By that time, I'll probably get the SS if I'm happy with the cobalt in General! ))

K&N or any other high flow air filter will get you a few hp. but ifyou are leasing you can't do too much to it really.

Truthfully power gains are minimal for those, people obsess over intakes and filters but they are really not much at producing anything. Most out of small 4 cylinder cars you can gain, even if your engine is aspirated could maybe be 3-7 hp really. Sure its a good add on, ram-air is a way to go, at certain speeds you can gain as much as 15. All in all these "tornado saver" things are garbage, dont waste the money. As for the filter, of course good for the car, but not an insane difference really.

Not true, you can do intake/header/exhaust, just put it back to stock when you return it. Nothing voids your warranty unless they discover it caused the problem.

Tornados are a waste, don't bother.

You may also want to think about opening up the exhaust a bit. I know people who have done that on a lease and not had warranty problems. Also check www.j-body.org... I'm sure they will have performance advice for the 2.2 Eco.

A member on ls1gto.com gained 20 hp (dyno sheets to prove it) from adding a K&N aircharger...pretty amazing but results like that are not typical and def. not on a 4cyl.

But yes, it's agreed the Tornado sucks.
