Good thing you went with the gap insurance. You should get 100% of what you paid for the car back.

Will you pick another Cobalt? Or go with something different?

Mmm... as much as I hate to say it... stay away from the GTO. Gas is already near $3.50 a gallon... I'd hate to have to fill up any more than I already do.

A little cost analysis for you.

I drive roughly 40 miles round trip for work... 5 days a week. That's just straight to work and back home... no stops at the store or going out to lunch/dinner or anything. So that's 200 miles right there. Let's figure in another 50 miles in for side trips... So 250 miles a week.

Now... I'm getting ~26MPG... so 250/26 = 9.6 roughly 10 gallons of premium a week.

Gas here right now is $3.50 a gallon for premium so that's $35 a week. Just to drive to work so I can make the money to pay for the gas so I can drive to work... you get what I'm saying?

Now let's put me in a GTO... getting say ~18MPG... so 250/18 = 13.8 roughly 14 gallons of premium a week @ 3.50 a gallon = about $50. Just to go to work and back.

If you want RWD and more power... go with like a 350Z or something that gets better mileage. B/C I know everyone has said it... but gas is gonna be a major major major thing in the next 5 years or so.

Watch out RaineMan, CodySS is going to be in here real soon to dispel the myth that a Cobalt SS S/C gets better gas mileage than an LS2 engine.

I did think that GTO's do a little better on highway driving than 18mp? Can someone besides Cody confirm this?

Hell yea, I got gap also. Could not go wrong with how cheap it is. Good luck, I hope everything goes well for you in the future.

21mpg according to Pontiac, so if its anything close to the way they rate the Cobalt its actually about 23mpg. Screw the GTO though, get a Corvette. You can justify the price increase on how much you'll save on gas, 28mpg woot woot!

gas mileage wont be that great in a GTO but who cares when your driving around a 6.0l V8 with 400 horsepower....The extra 15 bucks spent on gas driving to work would be well spent cause youd be driving a sick ass car...

Funny my dad's got a C6 vette sitting in the garage... that gets worse mileage than my SS/SC... I've driven it and seen the numbers myself.

I wasn't using the 18MPG number for highway driving... 18MPG is for city driving... stop-and-go morning/afternoon rush hour like I drive every day. I get 32-33MPG on the highway... whereas a GTO probably gets 28MPG highway.

I've actually started checking NWS tagged threads and removing them when they don't apply.

Maybe you should make a little icon that says N E W S in a color like green or something... everyone gets confused and thinks that the NWS says NEWS

Indeed. Apparently most people in society today can't read anyway though...

GAP coverage only covers the difference in what you owe for the car and what the insurance company gives you for it, you are going to lose any payments you have already made on it.
