Been a long time since I posted, but I've lurked quite a bit. Anyway, my beloved Cobalt is history. Some guy cut me off in heavy traffic on the interstate, forcing me to react to avoid contact. I hit the inner retaining wall at 70mph. He didn't stop. Thankfully two other drivers behind me chased him down and reported his tag to police.

I've been seriously bummed, this happened a week ago. I loved this car, took great care of it, Mobil 1 every 5-6K, never even scratched it. Heck, I even kept the door jambs and wheel wells clean. It was a special order LT manual coupe.

I don't know what's going to happen. I've hired a lawyer. The accident report leaves no wiggle room for this guy, it's a done deal, he's responsible for destroying my car. I owed about the same as it's valued on KBB. So I'll start all over again. I need a small, good mileage car. I drive 100 miles a day to work, so let the searching begin. I've got my eyes on the 2013 Focus ST. Yes, it's a Ford, but I've been a fan of both Chevy and Ford my whole life.

Has the insurance company totaled it? Because that sure doesn't look totaled to me...

Yes, it's a total. Subframe moved over, left front suspension, paint, body panels.

I felt the same way, but with 130K and air bag deployed, they totalled it.

Yeah I'm ok, thanks, I popped that wall hard. 50 miles each way, and that car got a consistent 33 mpg.

Focus ST looks like a great care though. I'd consider it if I weren't looking to buy a house after this car is paid off

Why not just go for a used SS? You can pick one up relatively cheap these days.

Time to get a LNF I suppose. They go for $12,000 in Canada! (a good deal)

I have been looking. I loved my car. There's a beautiful SS turbo in Kentucky, same color as mine was. If I had the money right now, I'd catch a flight to KY and drive it back to the MS coast.

I've hired an attorney, I've never been through this before, so I'm going to assume that my lawyer and my insurance co. will go after him and his insurance. His mom and dad are both well-known personal injury lawyers themselves. I almost hired them before I saw the accident report!
