I have an '06 SS/SC with 23,000. It's worth about 14-16K. Courtesy of KBB.com.

dealers do not use kbb, and almost nobody does when really appraising a car. it's almost always going to be lower than what kbb says

For a 2.4 you're likely going to be looking at $10-11k.

well, tuning will be an absolute bitch, and right now costs about 1,000. it appears as though bolt ons hurt the performance of the car... turbo will need to be upgraded to make power... no aftermarket support yet etc. when you buy a new car, you have to expect kinks, problems that no one else has realized yet since the car is new. i think people are building this car up way to much in their heads. it won't be much faster than a ss/sc at all.

again not true... the new 08 balt has had many of the bad features fixed... alot of the tranny and engine problems along with running incredibly rich at times... Gm did a great job on the new 08 turbos... they look great and are gunna be a great car..

Where do you get this info from... GM under rated the cobalt ss/sc, they said it was rated for 205 hp and really its making 215-225 hp stock... so when GM says that the 08 balts are making 260...they are probably under rating in it again.. do you understand that? So i dont see how the 08s wont be much faster than the sc's where do you get this info???

The engine wasn't where I had the problems... the engine actually ran really well in my SS, its just everything around the car seems to either be made and look CHEAP, like the paint on the interior trim scratches easily. the steering column had to be replaced and seems like it has to be again as it is starting to make the same noise again. The Airbag warning light as the sensor under the passenger seat was shorted after the seat ran over it... car wouldn't let go of the keys... these types of things just shouldn't happen....

All of this was fixed under warranty but I dont wanna have to fix them with my own money when the warrenty is over.

The 08s were done under the new SAE guidelines, which eliminates the under/over rating of vehicles.

260hp is actual hp to the flywheel. SS/SC's were laying down 215-220 on average to the wheels, which is equal to about 250hp to the flywheel. (SS/SC's ratings were done before the new guidelines which left more leeway in ratings) 10hp = not that much difference.

i get this info from several places. the engine is already available, and in other cars. so we know it's not overrated. next, see below. also, you didn't address any of the other things. like 1,000 for a tune. there is zero aftermarket right now. now, like you said, 215-225 stock. add drivetrain loss to that, and tell me what you come up with.

only time will tell for certain, but i think a LOT of people are going to be disapointed when they get the new cobalt and still run mid 14's.
