Personally I think you are wasting your money, but to each his own. You are trading in two cars to get a 6-disc cd changer and a auxillary input.

I would never trade two cars in to get something I already have unless I have money to burn! Which I do not. 2 cars are always better then one. That way you can limit the mileage on your SS/SC.

use www.gmbuypower.com to do an inventory search for an 06 SS/SC with the G85...there is a $750 incentive, and they will really want to get rid of the "new" unsold 2006 models. Especially if you hit them at the end of the month.
I expect you could get under invoice for a "new" 2006.

so your basically trading in the current ss s/c for lsd, leather, 6 disc cd changer and some chrome rims? sounds kind of worthless other than the lsd part which will drop you a few tenths but you can probally get that put in, i know for my vehicle lsd is only like $200ish so yours cant be far from that.

sell the cavalier on ebay or craigslist.com im sure someone will buy it there.

I think thats the dumbest Idea ive ever heard of. the wheels you can buy them, the radio you can upgrade to a better one. I mean thats so dumb your wasting your money. It would be another story if the 07s were turbo.

Ours is not even close to that. It's like $1,500.

I agree with everybody else, seems like a bad idea to take the loss on your 06 just to turn around and get a 07.

I like the idea. Be sure to trade in the 07 and get an 08 when they come out too. Always have that new car smell!

I would just buy the lsd outright - a lot of money up front, but will save money on finance charges in the long run.

I got $3,400 off my "new" 2006, last day of the month, side air bags, 6-disk, G85, Onstar, etc.. But I needed a car now! If I aleady had an SS I would wait for the turbo before I upgrade.

I'll be thinking about trading in my current SS for the 260 HP SS or Sky with 2.0 turbo motor, direct FI, dual scroll turbo, etc. The Solstice GXP/Sky Red Line with that motor will do mid to low 13s in the 1/4 stock and they are about 2900 pounds. The turbo spools amazingly fast. The stock fuel system can handle 340 horsepower, so just turn up the boost and/or get a larger turbo and you're there with a reflash.

GM is dropping the supercharged Ecotec in a year or two and replacing it with the turbo 2.0L all around for the Chevys/Saturns. There have even been turbo-charged SS HHRs running around!

Here is the info on the motor:

Dyno:

Specs:

Guys don't start the turbo vs S/C war again, the new turbo 2.0L will totally kick the old 2.0L S/C's ass up and down the street all day.

Im suprised you can't sell your z24.....

I just sold my 00 Z24 with 96k on it last week for $4000. It had some minor dents, and blemishes, a non working drivers power window, and needed new tires. I had like 30 individual people call on it.

Chris~

DO NOT, trade your cavalier and SS/SC for a new one. I guess if you really want to, its up to you, but I personally would not. If anything, Id just sell both cars, and get something else that your interested in. Save some cash, sell both, and upgrade to something else.

I had no issues selling my 01 Z24 either. Near flawless paint and had a few mods left on it. Had offers and it was snatched up real quick.

How much are you selling your cav for? Maybe you are asking too much. I just sold my 99 z24(Bodykit, rims, etc) for $6000 and my phone wouldnt stop ringing. Maybe you need to change your strategy. Otherwise, if the g85 and the other options are that important to you, go for it. It sounds like you're regretting getting yours without any options and nobody likes to live with regret.

Is there even any concrete evidence that shows that the 08s will be turbo?

Im with BradyB on this, I already have a 06 screw the 07 wait for the 07 Solstice GXP. Turbo, 260 HP, RWD!!! This will be a fast car that you can drift in to if you want. Try drifting in a FWD 07 cobalt. I love my cobalt, but that GXP is sick. Check out this link to RK Sport to see the bada$$ ground effect kit you can get for the Soltice.
