Trasmission Fluid help

So I got my cars routine check up...oil change tire rotaion break inspection..blah blah blah. Im told I SHOULD drain/change my transmission fluid next time I get my oil changed. Its about $180 at the dealership. anyone do it them selves? is it a long...difficult project? is it better to have the dealer do it? Let me know what you think

NEver done it on a cobalt, but Ive done it on my Plymouth and Dodge, and it was easy, yet messy. Are you auto? Or Man? Make sure you get the correct fluid. Some mans use the ATF, however mine does not. It is something you SHOULD be able to do yourself. Get yourself a Haynes and Chiltons and those manuals should walk you through it. Dont forget to swap out the filter while your in there, and the gasket will need to be replaced.

to change the filter on most auto's you need to drop the transmission drain pan, and replace the filter, then you need to get a new gasket and replace it while you're in there. I agree, swing by autozone and pick up a haynes or chiltons manual for the car.

I got a Haynes at Autozone, or Advanced, but I had to go to Orielys to get a Chiltons. I prefer to have both but either one should be fine though.
