To Turbo.. Or to Tvs

To turbo or to tvs?

Tvs = $2300 (after 80's) roughly.
Turbo Swap ~ $5000

TVS with Meth ~ 330 whp (low 300's realistically)

Turbo Swap with meth ~ 400+whp (high 300's realistically)

Would it be worth the extra 2500 or so for the 70 or more horsepower..

This is NOT ON a built engine.

Or should I take my 5 grand and port and polish the head, get sleeves, rods pistons valve springs.. Net gain worth it?

There are plenty of turbo swapped LSJ's on here running on stock internals just fine, and others who ran on stock internals and blew the **** up.

hahn level 5?
ZZP s256 extended tip?

Convince me it's worth it please.

The benefits outweigh the price.

the 256 extended tip

turbo lag on that???
I don't feel top concerned on the lag though, at this point, if im spoolin at 4 grand, and the wheels start to spin.. I will be happy

that's fine with me
i need an excuse to buy some new tires anyways.

s256et > s252et?

Is it worth the extra $50 ?

unless you plan to build the motor and are going to want more then like 450 whp go with the s256et imo
or just get the 252et and have fun

Personally I would do the TVS because it's a cheaper way out IMO and you can get high 3's if done right

Hmn.. No plans to build the motor.. If i have the money to go all out and redo the block, i might as well buy a new car.
I want to be into the 400's..
i dont want 380 390..

if the 252et will guarantee that.. then awesome. the 256et may be over kill for what my goals are

where would the meth nozzle on here go ?????

a turbo swap is way more exciting than a tvs IMO

i've pretty much convinced myself, but I'm open to what people have to say..

I like the idea of high 300's with a tvs, but that's maxing out the system, and it seems like it will take longer to reach that goal.
if i have the money sparingly to do this, why not?
the worst that can happen is i blow the engine up.. it's almost paid off anyways (I won't be doing this until it is payed off at the end of this year)

if you want the car to last with that power, go with the TVS and upgrade the internals. also, if you do any road racing or autox, the SC will be much better than the turbo.

My mind isn't fully made up..

i'm flip flopping

i'm trying to get the pros and cons of both.

I would say TVS for a more fun powerband....but if you're looking for a highway prowler...go turbo.

You drive on the autobahn, turbo should be a no-brainer.

Not necessarily... An engine in the correct RPM mated to a properly sized turbo will have an almost instant spool time. If he is auto crossing the car will be in the efficiency range of the turbo. Plus a turbo has less parasitic effects on power of the motor so you are making more efficient power... Just my point of view.
