Turbocharged HHR, and Cobalt SS
Turbocharged HHR, and Cobalt SS
Ok, before I get raped on this topic, I just want to add my two cents to how I think GM will play the Cobalt out.
In since the SS/SC for this year didn't meat federal admissions, they obviously dropped that engine for the 08 model year.
Well the HHR's right now have the same two types of engines as the N/A Cobalt's (2.2, and 2.4).
With the TC HHR coming out, you have to think that in since the two same engines are both in the Cobalt and the HHR, that Chevy will take their 08 model year with out the SS/SC, and work on dropping in the Turbocharged engine into the Cobalt SS that is new to the HHR as well, hopefully then called the Chevy Coablt SS/TC.
It makes perfect sense because if you have two of the same exact engines in the previous HHR's, why not put the Turbocharged engine in the new Cobalt SS? If the same engine that will be the HHR Turbo into their "revised" Chevy Cobalt SS, the Domestic Tuner market would be blown away. I believe that this is a deffenant possibilty to what Chevy will make there Cobalt SS.
Not only will it be Turbocharged, but if this happens, the new Cobalt SS will smoke just about any factory tuner car out there
Just a thought, but what ya'll think?

Here's the brochure that leaked today for the HHR SS Turbocharged with the 2.0

Since the HHR is essentially a Cobalt wagon, this is a drop in for the Cobalt. I'd expect it early next year.

They wouldn't do RWD because of the Corvette and new Camaro platform coming out that are RWD. This is a sport compact car, so they would have no reason or logic to make it RWD. AWD would be a possibility, but I'm sure would require a lot more engineering to accomplish at a production level. Would be cool though.

i think this isn't really a dream. i think its more of almost a fact. it would make perfect sense, cause then we can beat srt-4, ms3, mustangs, gti, subs, pretty much anything.
it would be foolish of them not to do it...
yeah they have camaro's and corvettes, but not many people will be able to afford the top of the line camaro, and some cant afford a base corvette...so i think chevy is looking at a top of the line cobalt, such as maybe a turbocharged one, so its affordable, and its fast.

Ur out of ur mind
mustang, 350Z, RX-8, GTO, solstice GXP, sky redline, miata.. not even counting used cars
if u cant afford those then thats a different story.. but dont complain that no1 offers fun rwd cars when obviously there are.
the cobalt will never b rwd.. its a fwd compact.. deal with it
and ur naive to think GM wont have the LNF in the cobalt eventually.. its just standard progression.. we know the LSJ is done-for.. emissions.. and with the horsepower wars alive and well and people wanting performance cars more and more.. dont tell me the cobalt wont have GM's new small displacement performance motor to replace our current cobalt SS

I guess since Chrysler had the PT turbo they didn't need the SRT4?
Since Buick had the Park Avenue with the 3800SC, there was no need for a Regal GS? Bonneville SSEi and Grand Prix GTP?
It makes perfect sense - it's "free." You've got the motors, they fit, it's a no brainer.
We know Cobalt SS is going to be back, so this motor is the natural fit - they're not going to do a whole 'nother motor just for this car.
