It really shouldnt matter what type of oil just as long as it is full synthetic

Any full synthetic oil should be fine, but I personally prefer Mobil 1.

I would just stay with mobil 1. Just go by what the oil cap says.

royal purple does what it claims.... too expensive and you only see the increase in the first few 100 miles

It's too thin. I used it in my last car. I ended up having to do an engine rebuild, and when we got it apart, all of the internals looked horrible. Everything was scorched and melted from being too hot, it looked like the engine had been ran with no oil. I know people who have went through 2+ engines (luckily under warranty), and stopped going through them when they stopped using Royal Purple. While there is no proof the RP caused it, i've seen the inside of engines using Mobil One, and they looked much better.

For the 2.0 engine the oil has to meet a certain gm spec im not sure what it is right now but it is in your owners manual. Failure to use oil that meets this spec will void your engine warranty.

Yep. There's a reason GM recommends Mobil 1. I don't know why any of you guys use anything different.....

You can use whatever but I had penzoil turn to goop a couple of times whenever I've used it in the smaller cylinder engines. I'd use Mobil 1, it's what all the car guys use, whether it's for hondas, fords, or chevys.

i would stay with Mobil1 in case GM or the stealership wants to pull some voided warranty crap on your ass.

you might want to get a new 710 cap though

You must not have used the right weight oil
I am going to use royal purple in my car I have used it in my Race car and never had any problems not only that royal purple is better than most oils out there and conforms to all standards.

A guy was driving for an hour and stopped and got the oil changed right away and it wasn't hot? Are we seriously supposed to believe that?

I've seen cars be sitting waiting for an hour to get in our shop and the oil is still quite warm to the touch. Most cars that get right into the shop have oil that is too hot to touch.

Don't insult me by saying I didn't use the right weight oil. I'm not a kid, and I used the correct oil. That's nice that you use it in a race car, but you don't drive your race car everyday on highway and in traffic. You do a race, and then probably change it. Not the same. Not everyone gets the chance to see the inside of their engine, and the same engine that used mobil one looked a heck of alot better than mine with royal purple. Use what you want, but don't come in here and argue about how good royal purple is supposed to be because it won't get anywhere with me. I think it's crap, and it still doesn't change the fact that you should only be using Mobil one in a S/C SS, unless you want to risk your warranty being voided.

Yea, drove an hour and it wasn't warm. Yea, OK. My car always gets 32+mpg at 80mph and I use Mobil one. I've gotten as high as 36mpg on a trip. Now what?

In the only truly independant oil test I've ever seen done, both Mobil 1 and Amsoil tested good for well over 10k miles. But at 10k, the Amsoil started to thicken. So Mobil 1 is the only one that goes in my car.
