update on my car

so i took the car back to the dealership for the fifth time. they just called me to tell me that they are sending my header off to be X-RAYed!!! WTF?!!! its gonna show them if there are any cracks in the header. if there are then they will replace the header, if there are none then they are gonna replace the whole entire engine. this may sound good to some, but to me this sucks majorly! i am paying a lot for this car and i dont even get to drive it... for a long time im sure. it clearly qualifies to be bought back and they are not looking like they are gonna do that. should i keep bitching till they buy it back, or should i try to get some free upgrades?

That's crazy that they are going to send your header to get NDI'ed. So would a microscoptic crack in the header really cause that problem? To me, even if they just replace the header, I'd still be worried because it sounds like there might be more to it if they might have to replace the engine.

I wouldn't mind getting a new engine, (since i do have another car i can drive) but i'd be sure to have them document it so if you ever try to sell it, you can verify the engine mileage.

Oh, and see if they'll buy it back and see if you can get an '07. If not, than keep it and get some free speed!

Hopefully they don't care about 2.85" pulley, NGK Iridium plugs, oversized tensioner pulley, airbox mod. Because if the replace the engine they just may notice that. And I wouldn't ask for the smaller pully and other assorted parts back if I were you. Might see you getting a nice fat bill.

If I were you if they say they are going to repalce the engine I would just say give me a 07 with the same options + g85 and I will leave happy.

well ill ask for the pulley back with the hub, but right now i dont have the airbox mod done to it since i dropped it off. this is all warranty work and it has nothing to do with the pulley, so they cant charge me for anything. the pulley is pretty obvious too, im thinking they already saw it since it has been there 5 times. im just trying to figure out how to go about getting some compensation for the payments i have made when i havent gotten to have my car, which has been about 45 days so far due to this problem. it will be at least a month before i get my car back so that will take it to over 60 days.

I really don't think they would care about the NGK Iridium plugs, since those are standard with the car. Maybe not the ones that he is using, but not far off.

with warrenty work like that, you should force them to provide you with a rental.
I had to wait 2.5 weeks for my replace, ment Cat. and my dealership gave me a rental car for the time I was waiting.

best of luck man

If they have your car for over a month, they should then atleast make the payments for you. We had the goat for literally 3 days when it had to go back to the dealership for over a month, which they paid the payments until we got it back.

I would have done the same with my balt' except it only took them a day to put in my new motor

tell them you want another SS/SC to drive in the mean time. Thats what I did when I took my car in to replace a factory blown speaker. Although.. that was only for 1 day, this sounds like it might be a few weeks.

didnt know you could do that... right now i am in an '06 quad cab silverado. they are supposed to know what they are gonna do by monday. most likely it will be an engine swap which they said should only take a day. cumulatively i have been without my car for a total of about a month or more so im thinkin they should make at least one of my payments for me.
