used SS/SC

hello, I was looking under Chevy's webiste under GM certified used vehicles and found a SS/SC in my area. It is a 2005 with about 14,000 miles. It is black with red inserts on the interior and of course has GM's limited warranty since it is used and GM certified. the dealer is wanting 17,995. Also has a bunch of options such as the sunroof. How does this price sound in your opinion?

Not a bad price. What kind of % is the dealer offering? You may compare pay out of this used SS, and if you purchased a new SS. The interest rate should be much lower for new compared to used. You might be surprised, the new SS might be cheaper in the long run.

i don't know. You can buy an '06 for around 19,500 to 20k out the door. But if you want to save a few grand, then yea it's alright.

I would always be hesitant to buy a "performance" vehicle used because let's face it people, we don't buy these cars to go easy on them. Every used performance vehicle has has the sh*t beat out of it atleast a few times.

do what i did, shop around and tell the dealer you found a few other dealers with cars you like and watch the prices plummet.

That's not to bad a rate. Talk them down to $16,500.00- $17,000. Then go for it!

x2

I would be weary of this.

I know its GM certified, but honestly, it was probably beaten on for a good bit of those miles.

Maybe not, but I would think for a long time before buying.

Good luck either way!

The same could be said for a new vehicle that has been on the lot for a while. I went to look at an SS/SC the other day and the dealer told me he test drove it countless times with people and they all loved it. I know he was trying to convince me it was a nice car, but what I got from it is that he let all the people that drove it, beat it in pretty good. Not to mention the other salesmen.

yeah i know how salesmen are when they drive cars around. before i got my cobalt i was lookin at a civic si as a beater car and the salesman was like let me drive i havent gotten to drive it yet. so you know i let him drive and i thought i was going to end up in a wreck! peeling out everywhere and hammering it every chance he got. lol. needless to say i never went back and i ended up getting my ss

yes that's also true....that's why i usually buy my car from a dealership that has over 20 on the lot....i test drive (and beat the ever living sh*t out of it) and buy the one next to it which hasn't been test driven....lol

Lucky for me, when I got the 2.4, I was there when they were unloading it off the truck and took it home, lol. I was the only one to drive it.

I am in the process of maybe getting a SC to replace my 2.4 SS (still debating though, not sure if i want to wait for turbo kits), and finding an orange is hard. I only found one with the g85 and it was masically the dealer demo, lol. Plenty of black ones that never been touched though.

the one i just bought... it was listed at 20K ... 8,000 miles...fully loaded (all but G85...which i didnt want because of the Recaros...i like my red/black int.) ... told them i'd buy it for $16.5K .. they told me 18.9K .... we met somewhere in the middle at $17.5K ... so with 14,000 miles... a car that seems basically identical to mine... u should get it for 17K... if u do its a great deal... tell them u want it for 16...if they dont kick u out u should end up[ getting it at 17...

i agree. That's why i wouldn't buy a performance car used, unless it's destined to be a classic and can't buy them anymore, like an '03-'04 cobra, Lightning, or older Z06
