valve cover question

hey have any of u spent time cleaning up the valve cover of ur car..

if so what did u use to get ti nice and shiney?

ill be doing this soon, just got a 2nd valve cover...fine grit sand paper..an aluminum polish, then a nigh temp clear coat

Clear coat is not designed to adhere to a bare metla of any kind. Especially a polished metal bacuase it is incredibly slick. After it is polished, you could have it powdercoated with a clear finish, but automotive clear coat will not withstand the heat nor will it adhere to the metal.

They don't make a high temp clear. I've been doing paint and body work for years.

I use a dremel on mine . I would recommend Clear Powder Coating. It's only like $40 to have it done and can withstand up to 2000 degrees depending on the powder they use. Otherwise it's gunna rust in a week.

Aluminum is incapable of rusting. The valve cover is made of aluminum.
