Valve float is only damaging if your valve hits a piston.

Then you have problems.

Your car comes with free towing to the dealer no matter what within 3 years or 36,000 miles

You sir are incorrect. While the LSJ is an interference motor, since the valves are at such a high angle, if you get valve float the piston simply pushes the valve closed, rather than break off the head. My pistons showed indication that the piston and valve made contact on more than 1 occasion. However on a push rod motor with low angle valves, piston vs valve = fuct motor

actualy weather its a pushrod or ohc engine makes no difference if its an interference motor. look at a dsm, when you break a timing belt it bends half the valves. the piston doent simply close the valve, it cant.

in the case of valve float, it may just push the valves shut. however, if its running bad id say its got a bent valve

Jbody Performance...I was drooling all over the heads they have for sale there...I read your story...

Stop and think before you go to the dealer.

Ok.

You over-revved your car, it broke. How is that mechanical failure? Instead of getting your warranty completely denied, just file a insurance claim...seriously...you will get your whole warranty denied because you are trying to get a freebie...not wise...
