Yep, look for L61(2.2), LE5(2.4), or LAP(2.2 vvt) on the sticker in the trunk.

Check the VIN for the eight character to find out the engine type of your G5. It should read "F" for a 2.2L engine and "G" for a 2.4L engine. Check this character to make sure your engine working.

For future reference (since I'm posting a little late) The 2.4L was specific to the G5-GT model;
All others received a 2.2.
I do not know if the Pontiac Pursuit (Canadian model only; precursor to the G5) was offered as a GT for the 2005 model year, but my guess is that it wasn't.

For the Cobalt's, only the 2006-2007 Cobalt SS (base), and 2008 Cobalt 'Sport' received the 2.4L engine;
Not offered for the 2005 model year, the 2006-2007 2.4L cars acted as a stop-gap in the lineup between base LS/LT cars and the SS-Supercharged cars;
At the onset of the 2008 model year there was no SS model offered, the base-SS was renamed 'Sport', and that model was discontinued late in the model year when the SS was brought back as a turbocharged model.

I hope this helps
