anyone know the string of numbers listed in the VIN number to tell if a certain car has the g85?

I'm not sure about the VIN but I asked the SAME question a while ago and someone told me to look in the trunk an the data plate you'll see a bunch of codes. ie LSJ, etc. I'll see if I can find that thread.

 

VIN #'s are given out to cars in the order they are built. As options for cars can differ so greatly, I dont believe them to do certain cars with certain features in any particular order, this includes the G85. IM pretty sure you could have 1 vin

xxxxx01 w/ no G85, and xxxx02 w/ G85.

im pretty sure on my other car there was some sort of numbering system with the VIN numbers though... i could be wrong but i thought there was that detailed what the car came with from the factory.

 

Yea i know what your talking about. I searched online and found alot of stuff for small blocks. I found one guy/company that charges you do code out the VIN. The VIN HAS codes and sequence #'s. I'll see what I can find.............................

i guess my problem is that i would like to know if it has g85 package by just lookin at a vin number online without calling the bastard dealerships...i hate talking to them any more than i have to.


im going to be buying a 06 ss s/c within the next week hopefully...just need to find the right one.

 

If you are using that Chevy website to look at the VIN they are not always right. When I was looking at GTO's one was listed at one dealership, but really it was at another and in place was another one of the same color.
