Voiding the motor and power-train?
Voiding the motor and power-train?
well i did a fast search and nothing in detail. but i as well as all of you guys have a 5-yr engine and powertrain warrenty? but my question is. i have a injen intake which im not worried about but im planing on getting a manifold and high flow cat. i already have a cat back system but will the maifold and cat void the warrenty? because i dont want to put it on and have a part in the trany or engine FAIL and it really not being my fault and it not being coverd you know? any info will be great and i know i will void the car and what not unless i swap it back out.
In theory no, but in reality yes. Anything not stock can be blamed for any problems you may have because the car is only designed for 205hp and you would be making more. Now, maybe you have a cool dealership that realizes that what you have done to the car is no big deal and probably didn't cause any failures, but that's not too likely. Most likely though they will blame it all on the intake since that is where all the power making starts and could alter your a/f causing some problems.
I think the best advice is that if you are really worried about your warranty don't mod. Other wise live on the edge a little and have some fun before you die and mod the crap out of it.

The main thing to remember is that what you replace holds up to blame...they can blame all they want though, they have to prove it in order for your warranty to be effectively voided.
If you put a new manifold on and your piston melts, they have to prove that your manifold (logically) caused your piston to melt.
Now, if you were to actually open up your engine, you might as well kiss it goodbye IF they can prove that you did open up your engine, which for the most part, technicians can tell if something was tampered. Any engine tampering, say bye bye. This goes for your PCM (hence the guys with HP Tuners).
