Start the car. Put on the seatbelt and drive. I don't get on it til coolant is above 175.

Modern cars can start and drive just fine. I love the people who let it idle for like 30 minutes then get in and just beat on it. So concerned about the engine and ignore everything else.

How many wait before starting the car? (By that I mean put the key in turn to run, you hear the fuel pump prime and I would also assume the oil pump to get the preasure up, then start the car.), or just get in turn the key, drive off?

That's a good question willie. Does it help to fully wait? I never paid much attention to that aspect and will admit I interupt the fuel pump in it's pressurizing phase. From now on I'll wait till it's fully done to be on the safe side.

Oh love the auto ignition feature aswell. Hard to explain what i'm talking about but how it cranks itself the perfect amount of times to start-up. Just a flick.

exactly lol my buddy has tried to explain to me many times that 'it takes more stress on the engine than driving it' or something... idk minus the fact its a running engine with no fresh air moving through under the hood (heatsoak) i don't really see how its bad but nevertheless i've been heeding his advice.

also off topic but kinda related i've been told its not safe to change synthetic oil early - like 3000-4000 miles - because the oil needs to slowly decompose or something to do its job. again, i have no idea why but i've heard this a few times. i still change my oil early since i dont trust the filter lasting that long

Haha yeah what a loud fuel pump eh. Is that over riding sound the low or high pressure pump?

And then the marble sound a few secounds after the keys taken out. Not 100% what that is i remember reading it was a magnetic pin that drops into the tranny to help prevent something?

Both my car's I have done 5,000km synthetic changes(have went over a couple times, but changed before 10,000km). 1st one is still going just about to hit the 300k mark. 2nd is 80k. I love new oil.

Oil pump is chain driven off the crank so it does nothing until the engine is turning over.

That marble sound is probably the evap purge. It has to do with the fuel system and I don't know where you read anything about a magnetic pin dropping in the transmission

I don't mean to keep thread jacking, but what's the sound the car makes about 10 seconds after it's turned off? I've never heard a car do that before. My 2 cents on warming up my car. I usually just turn it on and wait for the RPM to level out, then start driving. I do however have a good 10 minutes before I can go above 35. Unless it's the afternoon on a summer day and freaking temp is already over 100*

I'll grab a video of it tonight so you guys can hear it. Hopefully I'm not the only one who has this. I didn't really notice it until a few months ago when I bought a house and was able to start parking my car in a garage.

It sounds exactly like a marble dropping. Comes from engine bay few secounds after turn off. Not sure where I read the magnetic pin dropping into tranny(was def on cobalt ss.net) but for some reason I had to ask further :p I did not know LSJ's had it(willie inquiring). I was under impression it was LNF only for some reason.

OP just warm it until 90 degrees and softly drive it till 120. Then you can accelerate normally etc. anything above 90 your just sitting in your car being a weirdo thinking you drive a carb muscle car

If it sounds like a marble hitting the exhaust or many marbles ...its normal.... Most cars do it.... Starts by half or less second intervals then slows down to the point u only hear it once every 2o- 3o seconds right? Normal

The sound is the ghost inside your trunk. Aka the lock checking if it's properly closed. Correct me if I'm wrong.
