ac selco was sold a couple years ago, its run seperate of gm. the company that closed is one of gm's parts suppliers (one of about 2500). gm only makes the body and powertrain, the rest of the parts are built under contract.

you know, legally, GM has to provide replacement parts for at least 10 years after a model has been discontinued....and the model hasnt even been discontinued yet...
they will find a new manufacturer for sure...

This guy isn't shittin us. SportRedSS is speaking truth. I can't get any LNF ECMs right now because of suppliers being on hold.

GM owes the suppliers so much money that they are not putting out.

Yah....... to all you people saying GM can't find other suppliers, thats not necessarily the point...

There is another side that when a company doesn't pay bills, they get put on "credit hold", as in you have to prepay for your parts, and if a company gets to the point they can't pay their bills, they sure as hell can't afford to PREPAY them either.... so a tsunami was a good analogy... it will build and build... resulting in the collapse of GM.

So major suppliers to GM shutdown because GM isn't paying them... So what does GM do? Go to another supplier and say "yah we need you to supply this, our last supplier shut down because we didn't pay them" and the supplier will say "oh sure i'll give you parts with no expectation to be paid for them"

lol.............. end rant.

They need to, but the reason why I don't want them too...is it will completely affect the rest of the auto makers.

so the message is this? when a company spends frivolously, without reserve, makes mistakes that could have been prevented with a little restraint and common sense were just supposed to bail them out? how many times is this going to happen?

im not stupid and realize that there will be consequences. im mostly just ranting but i just cant see anything changing, even after they get money from us.

spend frivolously? yes because giving scholarships to colleges is a bad thing.

you think foriegn markets wont fall either. remember gm owns opel, holden, fiat and many others.

found this gem too
GM Powertrain is well-known around the world for its high-quality automatic transmissions. BMW, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce and other companies have all turned to GM at one point or another for technology -- in fact, even Ford recently signed an agreement that would allow them to license a new six-speed automatic transmission from GM for use in future vehicles
