Were are the SS SC's?

I live in Southern Oregon and have yet to see a SC at a dealer. The local dealer here said they may get one by the middle of next year. Only a month ago did they get there first SS. So this past weekend when I went to visit the family in the S.F. bay area, I stopped by a big dealer there and they didn't have a SC either. The sales person said Chevy is not producing alot to flood the market only to find out no one wants the car and that they are only producing 30 SC's month. They were going to be getting one (1) the middle of next month (November). I said that they must be selling because no one seems to have one on there lot. The guy said the a dealer in Dublin had one on there lot for a week and a half, which doesn't seem like a long time for a car to sit on a lot.

Does this sound right to anyone? I want to test drive before I buy. The local dealer said they could oreder me one.

Thanks, Jim

The dealers here are still selling them within one week of getting them in . I have been dying to see a orange one in person , which a local dealer had one coming in . It sold the day they got it , so I still stay eluded

For anyone who already owns a SS , if GM really is trying not to flood the market , that is only good for us . Itll keep resale values up and maintain desireablity . Driving mine , their is still a mystique about it . 9 outa 10 people Ive talked to have never seen a SS before when the see mine .

The only cobalt SS S/C around here at a dealer is a Sunburst orange one, with the plain all black interior, w/ no sunroof. Been sitting here for about a year. I bought the last 05 Arrival Blue SS S/C within 1,500 miles. I had to get it shipped here from a lil dealership outside of chicago.

I got mine in wilsonville. It was with in the first week that they got one that I bought it from them. Know have been checking all of the Chevy dealers and have yet to see any more around. Have heard that there are some in Eugen and still some in Portland. So you might have to drive a little to get one. I have also heard that the prices have gone up too. Good luck and welcome to the site.

I bought mine the first day the dealership got it in, and cleaned. Had my sis and bro in law hold the keys for me till i got there, i never cleaned otu a car so fast, took me an hour to take my system and trash outta my W-Body and wash it, i wish i kept the intake from it though beign i coulda had it welded to fit the SS, but yeah, SS SC's are hard to find, they dissapear usually they day they arrive, the 2.4 SS's sit a little longer, it may be awhile b4 u can get your hands on a SS SC, gotta stay on top of things, it took me several calls to find one that one of the employees wastn going to buy, every salesman told me, and i quote "The first one we get in I am buying, sorry for your luck" Ok enough babble

I bought mine before it even got to the dealership. In fact the dealership I was at was not getting one anytime soon so they traded another for the SC. I have yet to see another SC/SS on the road and I have had mine for over a month now.

There are not a lot of these to go around by any means. GM stated that there are only approx 50 or so coming to Ontario in all of 06'

I have yet to see another SS/SC on the road, and I haven't seen one on a lot at a dealer anywhere in my state either! I had to go to Ohio to get mine. A local dealer did recently get a 2.4L SS, but it was an auto (why???) with cloth seats and it was sold in less than a week. I have to believe that Chevy could sell 5 times as many of these cars with ease if they could make them.

I found mine on the internet here in chicago. made arrangements early in the morning to buy it that night. it was at the dealer for less than a day. they a red ss/sc then went just as fast. there were two other parties trying to buy it while we were doing the paperwork.

Damn I'm jealous that I can't even test drive one let alone buy one. I haven't seen one on the street either. I gave 2 dealers my number to call when they get a car in.

All depends on the dealership. I'm 25 and i still have a hard time at some dealerships to get someone to open the damn car for me.

i had to get my 05 red ss/sc from ohio!!! thats funny...the dealership i got mine from had never heard or the ss/sc till the week before, one of the service guys traded a truck for a yellow ss/sc, which he bought. they were like, what the hell 2 people in a week want a car we never knew about?!! anyway, they got it in at 5pm on a thursday, and i came in to drive it, but couldnt take it home because finance guy was closed, ( and they all wanted to drive it!, im not stupid) so i picked it up next day at about 3 pm when i got off work, and they said they had 2 offers to buy the car, one guy said hed pay 1 grand over sticker! and this dealership has yet to get another ss/sc in..... they could sell more, so they must be hard to get. God i love my SS!!!

Basically it's like this.

In 2004 if your dealer sold lots of Caviliers (Z24's) then they are going to get the Cobalt SS/SC. If your dealer sells lots of trucks and large sedans they aren't going to be getting the SS/SC's.

Tom Clark Chevy down the road here has probably 2 of every color. I know I seen 3 or 4 of the orange ones. Kenny Ross up at the other end of the road has about 15-20 of them. I had a hell of a time getting my 2.2 in a stick, had to have another dealer drive it up here from maryland, no dealers in the 200 sq mi radius had a 2 door 5 speed, but they all had a bunch of SS's. All depends on how many cars they move and what kinda cars are moving.
