A factory freak is basically a blueprinted engine. When building engines, everything has dimentions...obviously. Lets say for an ecotec (totally made up numbers btw), bore must be 86mm. What is deemed acceptable for this engine may be an engine with a bore of anywhere between 85.997 and 86.003mm. This exact number may be different with every cylinder, leaving various cylinders SLIGHTLY larger than others. The actual piston may have the exact same setup. A factory freak usually has a majority of its blueprint numbers very close to the exact desired number, such as everything in the above example being off by only .001mm It can be even better if say, the bore is .001mm larger than blueprint and the piston is also .001mm larger, so the ratio would be the same.
A common mod for engines is for them to be blueprinted to yield more power. Blueprinted 4cyl engines can yield up to 20bhp more than what they are rated for...depending upon the engine of course. Another plus side to this is usually longer engine life, as oil slipping past O rings and other miscellaneous wear items would be less frequent or less dramatic.

I'm not 100% on this, but this is what I read in one of my engine books

A particularly quick used Honda purchased at a car lot got the attention of the buyer after he beat several vehicles he had no business hanging with. Posted his experience on a car forum, after a few days of bs flame war someone asked him to check his engine code. Alas a quick glance revealed he had purchased a car with a complete 220hp engine swap (k24a2 vs 160hp stock k20a3). Turns out a former member of that forum had his car repo'd a few weeks before and was to ashamed to tell anyone. Not really a factory freak but a surprise for sure.

none of the examples in here have proven factory freak.
all can be explained by dozens of simple variables you are all ignoring.

numbers and times are based on various sources. Sea level type of dyno driver etc. Factory freaks dont exist.

I was being sarcastic...

factory freaks dont exist, the differences in cars that came off the same assembly line are so small that it wouldnt be noticeable.

Zekdemos on this board has a factory freak...

His car (when bone stock... 205hp) from a rolling race is dead even with my Stage 2 with a CAI. And he gave QuiksilverSS a real good run.

tolerances on the bearings, rings, many different things come into play with this. no two sets of cams are exactly the same either.

Had one back in 1965...New 283 CI Chevelle with 4 barrel Carter with mechanical secondaries, and header type dual exhaust (not buckhorn) supposed to be 220 HP built on the last day of production. Would NOT idle smooth below 1000 RPM. Would pull 5,500 RPM in high gear -130+.... dealership mechanics thought it probably had a 327 high perf cam put in during production when a standard cam was not available.

Mine was a BIG TIME factory freak. Its floating around somewhere if someone didnt buy it yet. Last time I knew it was in OH.

I did a 40 mph run vs my friend, who at the time had more mods than me, and I pulled 3 cars by the top of 120 mph. My MAF was wacked out though, so sometimes my car acted funny.
