What should have happend?

Went out saturday night with some friends and drank a few to many. I am responsible and let my buddy's wife drive my cobalt ss/sc home since she did not drink. As we are riding home we catch a pimped out chevy caprice with big Rims going 45 in a 55. So she pulls out and passes him and he starts riding us really bad so me and my buddy start yelling to out run this "b&^ch". She got nervous around 105 and the guy went back past us. We live out in the country and it was a wide open road with minimal chance for cops. My question is, could the cobalt out run a caprice from the mid 90s? On and by the way we ragged on her all evening for getting beat.

If its anything like some of the country roads I've been on(lockhart,tx anybody?), thank god she didnt go over 105. Sometimes you just never know whats going to pop out in the middle of the road. :\

i own a '91 Caprice Classic with the 5.0L 305 engine. I have it polished and just a small timing tune on it and it turns pretty good times. I've had it up to 177Kph (before i ran out of road) so they can haul pretty good. I can't say i have any track numbers or timing slips, and i haven't raced any Cobalts, but my guess is you could take the standard 5.0L Caprice. They run awesome, but they're not a power-hitter.
Now, if it was a 9C1 (GM Police Package) Caprice, they run the 5.7L Generation II LT1. I haven't driven one, but a buddy of mine has and he says they are deadly fast... (that doesn't get you any number i know...) I just know enough not to mess with the '94-96 Impala SS' or any 9C1 Caprices...

The LT1 impalas were dogs. They put out the same 0-60 in a hair over 7 seconds as the 4-cylinder SS 2.4's in the Cobalt. They put up mid to high 15's stock. Not extactly fast for a motor that had almost 300hp to the crank. In reality it only put out as much wheel horsepower as a stock ss/sc but with it's weight of almost 4300lbs it makes an excellent land yacht. I know they came with countless performance parts to make them fast and I am not doubting one can be fast just stating that stock for stock, that Impala would get burned.

I had a LT1 Caprice...... It has 260HP with about 289FPTQ..... They are heavy ass cars, but run better than high 15s..... Mid-Low 15's stock..... We can beat em.....
