what should I do about my balt

Hey guys,
alright so I am debating whether or not to keep my cobalt ss/sc. I got it 8 months ago, and since then, it has been in the shop 4 times. The first time was for front suspension (about a 2,000 job after labor). The second time was for steering column (upwards of a grand after parts and labor). The third time was for my door panel popping off and getting stuck as well as a new timing chain kit (around 2,000 after parts and labor). Now it is in the shop again for a busted flexpipe (over 1000 for parts and labor). Now after saying that, all of this has been covered under warranty and I have not paid a dime out of my pocket besides the two oil changes. The car has 64,000 miles on it. It is the g85 ss/sc. It came from the dealer with no front lip (which i later installed).

My other issue is that the car sucks in the winter. I live in Michigan and was straight up scared to drive it when there was any sort of accumulation on the ground. I do still have the stock pzeros which are terrible tires.

I love this car but I am so tempted to sell it and pick up an f150 or a ram. My other option is to just roll with it and pick up a cheap old f150 to drive in the winter. Any suggestions?

Buy a truck, and keep the balt for when weather is good

Alot of the issues you are having are tsb's and are recalls on the cobalts...!!! kEEP THE CAR AND READ UP ON ISSUES. (LEARN TO WORK ON THE CAR YOURSELF)

Or pick up a set of snow tires/steelies and switch out for winter.

I went two winters in Iowa with crap tons of snow just fine with a set of dedicated snow tires. You would be surprised how different they are in snow with good tires.

1. read up on what is normal issues for your car, 2. figure out how to work on it yourself(save time and money) 3. Get at least all season tires. i got 18's with pirrelli all seasons. they are fabulous in 4-5 inches of snow. i can go places many trucks cant haha

^ thanks for the advice..for all of you who are saying learn how to do the work myself..i know how to/do all the work to all of my cars be it rebuilding engines, electronics, lowering, headlights, taillights, interior mods..the only reason i am taking it to the dealer is to keep my warranty secure. as i said..i have not paid a dime yet besides oil changes. if the situation ever arose where it was not covered under warrenty, i would sure as hell do all the work myself!

from what I have seen/heard these do seem to be common problems. hopefully the issues are coming to an end

as for the snow..if i keep the balt, ill lpick up a set of snow tires for sure, or pick up a cheap truck to fix up

thanks again guys

The stock Pzero's are a summer only tire .... if you put winter tires on a steel wheel it will be a tank in winter ....especially with LSD .

I say keep it, more than likely, you will lose money by selling it. Which then, what's the point? No reason to throw away money that quickly. If you had it for a few years, then ya, I'd say sell it. but not after 8 months. Get a set of steelies and snow tires on all 4, you will drive right past most of the awd vehicles on the road, this things are great in the snow with snow tires. There's no way I'd ever drive my balt in the snow without them.

Ok. Common issues, and its been covered under warranty? I don't understand why you're complaining. Yea it sucks, but it hasn't cost you anything. Like everyone else said, get snow tires. They're tanks. Pay it off, then if you want a truck ect, get one.

^ yea thats smart..i'll do that, and its not really that i am complaining..i love everything about that car, but id hate to be driving a lemon around just waiting for something else to happen. but it sounds like these are the common issues and from what it looks like, most of them have been fixed i bought the car right at 54,000 miles which is right around the time that things need to be fixed on these cars..hopefully iv run into the last of the problems!

Get rid of it before the warrenty is up, or the future repairs will start costing you to fix

My 05 has 691xx miles, and I havn't had a single issue with anything. Never been in the dealership since I've had it since 30,000 miles. Guess I'm lucky

I can see where you were coming from thou...... just bought a car and then had all these issues pop up. Then wondering if it was going to continue after the warranty expires ..... it would make anyone a little nervous .
