Hey guys I'm in the process of shopping for a ss s/c with the performance package. Basically I'm going around to see what kind of prices I can get for an ss s/c w/ the g85. Tonight basically the main salesman said that he could get me invoice for the car which he said was 22,500ish. I'm looking to go even lower than that if possible without any kind of trade ins, or deals (just the paper price of the car).
I guess my question is: Was he just shitting me (im pretty sure he was) about how he couldn't go below invoice of the car?
Sorry I know this is taboo subject "use the search" blah blah, but wondering if i could get any insight as to how low I could get this guy down to? It is listed at about 23,400 and I plan to buy it straight out, no financing.

go though the whole deal telling him you are going to finance it then after the deal is all set and he wants your down payment...pull out your check book...my grandpa just did it a few years ago and got a 2004 honda accord ex w/ the upgraded wheels and interior brand new for 17,200. just give that a try

If its an '06 just finance it for 0% APR for 72 months assuming you can qualify. Why waste your money all on the car now and not use it for mods or other things. At the least you can do that and then on the first month or whatever pay most of it off and then use the rest for mods and then pay the rest off in a few months.

either way im not looking to finance so that won't be a problem. I don't plan to really mod it for the first two thousand, or so, miles anyways. After the first 2k miles I should have enough back in the back to think about S2, intake, and maybe an exaust system. I really am starting to get anxious about this though. I just want it now, but I don't want to jump into a bad deal. I need a good deal or else ill be pissed I bought it when I did. Well at least until the throttle makes me forget.

after researching the car i found out a few things
dealer said car invoice was 22500
from cheverolet.com and kbb.com i figured out that the cars invoice is actually 21,375
this is a 1,125 difference....salesmen **** me off...
any thoughts?

I know other dealerships are different but dont hate on the salesman because he may of just been trying to help you out but then again he may be an ******* and may deserve your ranting.

You can get the invoice price in advance from edmunds.com - print it out and have it with you - then make the dealer show you HIS invoice. If he refuses, OR if its different, walk.

Sorry to go a little of topic, but how available are ss/sc in the USA? I went to a dealer in calgary today and I guess there is none in alberta. and I would have to factory order an 07' which I may not even get

so you could try going in wanting to buy a 1ss that they do not have or no one else has around, and see if they can get you up to a 2ss.

This is exactly how I got my truck:
I went it and demanded a certain montlhy payment w/ 0 down being upside down 10k on my Cobalt. They told me the only way I would come close to what I wanted would be to get a base model V6 regular cab silverado. From there I told them there is no way I would trade in my Cobalt for that crap, so I demanded my set payment w/ 0 down on a 5.3l work truck. They told me the only way I would get what I wanted payment wise on a 5.3l WT was to put down $500. I laughed and said no way and said I would take my business elsewhere.
I went to another dealership and demanded the same thing and they basically told me I was crazy. Well while I was at the 2nd dealership the sales guy from the 1st dealership called me and asked if I was at another dealership. I used this to my advantage and said these exact words "Yes I am at another dealership getting the truck I want for the price I want, I will be signing the paperwork shortly." There was a pause and then he said "why don't you come back here and we can work something out on that work truck?" I basically told him that that is ridiculous and that I was getting a loaded Sierra regular cab for the monthly payment I wanted (remember this is all complete bull). Then the turning point happened over the phone when he said "Come on back here man, we'll get you the truck you want at your payment". So I drove back to the first dealership and got to dealin. I picked out the truck I have now and said "I want this one". This time they told me OK, and then we discussed the price of the truck vs. what I wanted to pay a month. They wanted $31,000 for my truck (it was stickered at $28,000) in order to cover me being upside down $10,000 on my Cobalt. I told them "no sorry, I appreciate you trying to help me but it's just not going to work out." They told me to hold on and they went and did the whole "let me talk to my manager" thing. After speaking to six, yes six different people up the chain of command I had gotten my payment down to what I wanted and the truck for $28,400 the door including GAP insurance, tax title and license, and a 100,000 warranty. Keep in mind there were no rebates on the Silverado like there are now.
I spent 10 hours at the dealership that day and got the following:
-Negative equity of $10,000 reduced to $400. with not a cent down.
-Got APR financing of 3% for 72 months.
-Payments dropped $120 less a month for an 06 LT Silverado vs. my SS/SC
Some things that I found that helped me a lot:
-I knew exactly what each item on the truck was and how much I should be charged for it. (for example, they told me that the "appearance package" which is a color matched lower bumper, the 17" fake-chrome wheels, and slightly tinted windows was worth almost $2k...no way sir)
-I knew roughly what the dealership paid for the truck through consumer reports so I worked on negotiating UP from that price.
-I was very polite and curteous. Just firm about what I wanted. I garauntee that if you act like a jerk, they're not going to be willing to help you out. But at the same time DO NOT go in there with out researching the car and knowing EVERYTHING about it. The sales guy will be pretty intimidated when you know more about what HE is selling. It'll work to your advantage, believe me.

The only thing I'll miss now if I buy it is the 10yr 100,000 mile warranty they were offering free, plus free oil changes for life, cause it ended the 30th. It's was the dealers 45yr anniversary or something like that.
I'll need to make a decision soon though, with the current 0% ending July 5th. I'm trying to decide between the(this) SS/SC and two local srt4's (one regular, one ACR) both for 17,999, only issue is they are both used with 12k & 16k miles.

^^^ and you know that nis a shame a fair price is a fair price...let the poor guys try to make a living and dont beat them up...do you go into krogers and tell them you dont like the cost of their peas and if you dont lower the price i will go right down the street and buy them 5 cebts less...these are the type of people i let walk because i dont want to work 2 weeks just to make a flat $120.00. and i will break the invoice right out of the book and say here is sticker this is what we pay YOU tell me a fair price...makes it a little easier on the so called educated consumer

Like mentioned above, a dealer's invoice also includes frieght. Not to mention a 3%-5% holdback. Those two items alone are what a dealer considers a sacred piece of negotiation that the customer can't bargain for. I am friends with many car dealers and when I went in to order my 06 ss/sc, i was given the price it cost to get that car to them. $22,138. Saw it on paper, and was given the info from a long time good friend of mine. Granted, the dealer will make a few hundred bucks on that car still with the holdback. $22,500 is a decent price for a car with an msrp around $23,500 after dealer costs. I say go for it!
