still wondering about this,

will a dealer sell a car that is below dealer invoice?

I hope to get the 23,000 cobalt for 21,000 or lower. I'm not financing.

I think its rare, as in if the dalership still has new 2005 cavalier that they cant sell. They dont care if they lose a few, as long as they dont have to look at it anymore and it frees up space for a car they can actually make money from. I highly doubt you will get a new cobalt for below dealer invoice, sss/c or base. you can try, but it probably wont happen.

i got my 06 that listed for just over 24 for 21300, after trade tt&l and more bout 212/month.

i went to 4 dealers, knew what strategy they used. they traveled 170 miles, flatbedded my vehicle here and then delivered it to me at my job. you give and take a little. being a person who works on a toyota signature group that decides how to sell a car and negotiation, it really helped with purchasing a vehicle.

as for edmunds...do print it out, they vary by 300-600 off invoice and sometimes closer. but there best option is the average price listing.

This is what we did when we my bought the wifes car. She found the one she wanted and a different one at another dealer. We got thier bottom line out the door price and took it the the first dealer and the fight was on between dealers. It came down to who wanted the sale. It works down here and it might work for you, its worth a try.

Well today was the first time I actually walked out on a dealership. The "what will it take you to take this car home today speech was made, the handshake agreement was made, the contract was written up and signed, a smile was on my face...then they sent me to financing.

Suddenly the bottom line vehicle purchase changed by $2,000 from the walk from sales to financing. I agreed on a $18,000 (LT w/sport package) out the door figure (car price + negative equity) at $288/month for 60 months. But when I got to financing suddenly the $288 turned into 72 months not 60. Then they said GMAC apparently wouldn't finance me for the 72 months even though I have a beacon score of 736. So the $288 for 72 months turned into $314 for 66 months. I believe they used the words "my file wasn't big enough to get 72 months" They hadn't even gotten to things like gap insurance or the extras they always try to sell ya.

I've never in my life felt so cheated than I did tonite. They would rather lost the sale then to honor their word or to even honor $288 for 66 months. I'm sure to a dealership, $2,000 is chump change but to me it's a really big deal and to think for that extra $2,000 they could of made me very happy and still not went home hungry.

i highly doubt it... like others said, a dealer doesn't want a cash deal...

most other types of companies would probably give a discount if you agreed to pay in full upon purchase... car dealers make money when you finance, so it's NOT in their best interest to give you a better price so that you can pay it all in one shot...

someone else said it best... finance the car, and pay it off in full with your first payment...

no they mark up the price on their products to show you a discount with your flippin krogers card... plus i know what i do at this dealership and i know how good we are to customers...and yes i have been known to actually post gm supplier snd gm employee discounts to help people on forums get good deals...lets put it this way...you dont know me or my business or how it to sale cars...walk one day in our shoes and see the bull you have to put up with....

with that said i am done

i was actually told by a salesman that i could get a 06 non g85 cobalt for $100 below invoice and $2000 in rebates and then $400 for being a college grad... when i asked another dealership about the $2000 in rebates he said it wasn't showing up on his computer and that it wasn't offered.

i'm going to go back to the original dealership to see if that guy was just trying to get me to come back or if he was serious...i highly doubt they are offereing $2000 in rebates. although he said it is the new deal they are offering after this whole 0% for 72 months thing.

anyone know?

you can check on www.chevrolet.com for the incentives in your area...there may be dealer cash that the dealer does not have to tell you about just to let you know that it is out there.....http://www.chevrolet.com/specialoffe...regionoption=i do not see any rabates on the ss/sc coupe
