When to change brake pads.

My car is at 22k now, its an 07. I dont brake hard at all. Had my rotors resurfaced a few times at the dealer, doubt they changed the pads. About how long do our pads seem to last?

Have them check them for you the next time you take it in. For some people they can last 60K, and for others only 30K. It just depends how much you use them.

Why are you getting new pads and rotors in May? Why not save the money and replace them when they need replacing

I guess thats true. I just hate my frickin rotors, cause theve already been resurfaced by the factory like 3 times. They refuse to replace them, just keep resurfacing.

Why are they warped or something? I have 30k on my 07 and have never looked twice at the brakes (except the ebrake which I ripped out of the bracket from doing too many slides in the snow lol)

I got vibrating when doing over 60 and braking like 1 month after i got the car. So they resurfaced them. Then 3 months later the vibs came back and they resurfaced them agian. And then they did it this past sept again. Theyve been ok since then. But if that **** happens again they better replace them.

Do the techs at your dealership TORQUE the lug nuts to 100ft/lbs? Go ahead and laugh but unequal torque on lug nuts has been known to pull a rotor out of shape. Then as you use them the heat will set the warp. Like I said. Go Ahead and laugh. I was told this by the guy that serviced my first car with disc brakes. I pull my wheels every time I wash the car to clean them and behind them. Torque the lugs in a cross pattern and have NEVER had a HINT of brake warp on any car I have ever owned. Maybe that's why some tool companies make torque wrenches for wheels. Brake rotors should NOT be warping 3 times in 22K miles. For ANY reason.

I have had the same problem with my car. My car was vibratind over 60 mph. They re surfaced the rotors 3 times and then replaced the rotors. Now my only problem is my ABS system went out and the guy at the dealership told me all the codes point to me having to buy a new 900 dollar part. I only have close to 39,000 on my car as well.
