This car is being sold in NY.
The carfax says there was odometer fraud or it went over 100,000 and rolled back to 0. Would that happen? or would it go past 100,000. I did the math someone had to drive it about 600 miles a day for 8 months...

The Federal Odometer Act requires a seller to disclose the vehicle's mileage on the title when ownership is transferred. Congress enacted this Act to prohibit odometer tampering and to protect consumers from mileage fraud. Under this act, sellers must disclose any issues with the vehicle's odometer. These disclosures translate into the Exceed Mechanical Limits and Not Actual Mileage titles.
* First Owner
When the first owner(s) obtains a title from a Department of Motor Vehicles as proof of ownership.
* Inspections
Many states or counties require annual or biennial emissions and/or safety inspections. Odometer readings are collected at the time of the inspection.
* Not Actual Mileage Title
When the seller certifies, under the Federal Odometer Act, that the odometer reading does not reflect the vehicle's actual mileage. This may occur because the odometer was tampered with, broken, or replaced.
* Ownership History
CARFAX defines an owner as an individual or business that possesses and uses a vehicle. Not all title transactions represent changes in ownership. I doubt it has over 100k... they probably f'd up entering the milage at inspection

somone may have changed the BCM. its where the milage is stored. just a thought

 

I'ts impossible for the car to have 100,000 miles already. Something had to of been fucked up with the odo. Take the VIN to a chevy dealership and hopefully if its been serviced before they will have the last known mileage.

 

No bank will finance a car with a odometer problems so i couldnt get the car. Still looking, will take the first one that comes up sub 15k! 2035504493

 

Now maybe its just me, but seeing how our odometers work, wouldn't it be hard to tamper with it?

The only warranty claim listed on the VIN besides the PDI is a courtesy tow on 8/24/06 with an odo reading of 9,000 miles. Also FYI it started life as a leased vehicle. COULD have been sold at auction but at low miles and being a not-so-common car it probably hit the lot as a GM certified unless there's a BIG reason why it shouldn't be.

Odometer fraud is nearly impossible these days unless you have acess to dealer-only tools and contacts.

 

What is PDI?
The dealer is acting strange.They are a big place over 2000 cars. I am trying to buy the car for 15637 including 6% ct sales tax. They will not accept my capital one blank check loan. They are saying that since there is this tmu true mileage unkown on the carfax that the bank will not pay them. But the bank will, i spoke with the bank several times and the car dealership is being scethcy. Anyone have any idea why? They refuse to sell to me saying the loan does not work and it does. Any ideas

PDI is Pre Delivery Inspection, when the dealer recieves the vehicle they inspect it themselves and then take delivery of the vehicle. (technically confusing) If the Tech entered the wrong mileage on accident it could be a flag, but its always caught before sale. (no carfax report to catch it because it will be off by 2 miles max)
