It looks like the base, LS, LT, and LTZ owners are getting the shaft in this poll, despite the fact that a good 70-80% of all Cobalts sold will be one of these "lesser" trims.

my first post here, I will be getting the SS Supercharged!

As soon as my local dealer is able to I will be ordering a blue SS Supercharged with the performance package and sunroof.

I had gone to my local dealer a couple weeks ago to see about getting one, they just had 2 or 3 of the sedans on the lot, and they said they currently couldnt order any Cobalts as it seemed GM had halted Cobalt ordering
and the dealer said to me that maybe it is that they are switching to 2006 he wasnt sure what the reason was, he just knew he couldnt order any Cobalts currently.
He and I chatted for a while about how the demand for the Cobalts is really high etc. and his impression of the situation is that they've been running into issues building them not being able to keep up with the demand (such as supplier of the sunroof parts not being able to supply enough to keep up with the orders etc.) and also how higher population areas have essentially 'higher priority' when it comes to orders (and I live in sparsely populated Wyoming).

Okay, then I was talking to another dealer (happens to be in Montana) on the phone today (he was responding to my email, I was checking places to see if they have any 2005 SS on their lots).
He starts telling me:
"well they didnt end up making the SS in 2005 because they're having fit+finish problems so they are holding off until 2006 "
I of course informed him that what he said is clearly not true
as there are quite a few people out there driving their 2005 SS and loving it, so they've obviously been making and selling them.
He then changes his story a bit to say "well they've only made a small number of them and currently all ordering on them is suspended and they'll be available once they get the problems fixed" etc. etc. whatever....
He asked me if I would like for him to check back with me later, and I told him not to worry about it.

Why is it that every dealer has a different story.. and none of them seem to ever match up.. do most dealers just not even try to find out facts before they spout useless misinformation to their potential customers? just make up stuff?

I'm just venting there, not really looking for a solution or answers, just sharing what I've experienced so far in my Cobalt ordering attempts.

I'm currently thinking I'd much rather get a 2006 at this point anyway, except I'm not too sure about the colors.. anyone know if this new " Laser Blue Metallic " will suck compared to the Arrival Blue ? so far only pictures I can find of a Chevy car in "Laser Blue Metallic" looks sadly dull....

no matter what, once I get my Cobalt SS, I will take tons of pictures and video footage (I will not add any music over the videos either) to share with everyone here

Talking Base model

This will be my first post on this forum.

When I go to get me cobalt next week, I'll be getting the base model 5spd in Arrival Blue. Hopefully they won't give me any issues about it taking weeks or even months to get one in. I thought about getting the SS, but the engine size varies between the two models. I figured the increase in size would give me a few more ponies when I go and turbo charge it later on.

GM is overhauling the branding and features for the 2006 models providing more options to choose from. I'm still not impressed with the change in branding because putting my 2005 LS coupe (now called the LT in 2006) beside a 2006 LS (previously just the Cobalt) will make them appear identical and this is definitely not the case not only in price but the feature set as well. I just don't get what the hell GM was thinking...if the base model REALLY needs to be branded then call it the LZ or LB or whatever...the rest of the branding was fine imo.

He probably thought you were talking about the ss 2.4 at first, and then when you shot him down he thought you were talking about the 2006 ss sc, which from what i've read around here it's production is being held. Or he (the dealer) is living in a cave.

Ok, everyone read this becuase i'm tired of seeing and reading all the the confusion:
the ss and ss s/c are different cars.
