since i'm goin to have to drive ss/sc in the winter i'm going to have to find some wheels...I was wondering if some 16's off a cavalier would fit?? i believe the bolt pattern is the same, but i'm not totally sure...

damnit..are there any wheels that would fit without haveing to spend like a grand on them? It's only for winter and there is no sense in buying something expensive...

cheapest you can buy are 16" steels, thats what I did for my winters.
The tire you'd select is 205/60/R16 closest overall diameter to stock size.

just an FYI smaller rim is cheaper, so is a tire with a larger sidewall, installation for a regular tire is cheapper then a low profile tire too.

basicaly you looking at less then $900 for tires, and rims installed and balanced.
prices very depending on area and the tire you select.

personally it's for the winter, so went with the best I could find for my SS/SC, I bought Dunlop Wintersport M3's

 

You managed to get 16" steelies over the brakes? I've been told by more then one source that 16's will not fit over our brakes. I've been looking at getting some 17" steelies, but they are damn hard to find, and super expensive as well...

 

I drove all winter with 16" (make sure they are hub centric rims, and not the universals)
just go to a rim and tire shop they'll find it for you. ( there not cheap tho )
if you plan on getting a big break converstion, then get 17"

Lucky for me, where I live my stock summer tires are also my all-season tires.

 

I checked on tirerack.com and went to the "wheels by car" thing, and the smallest wheel that they say fits my car is an 18, which is what is on there. But winter tires for 18's are wicked pricey....What i dont understand is why a cavy wheel wont fit because it is the same bolt pattern as my car..could someone explain why this wont work?

 

bolt pattern on the cobalt are new.. 5 110 offset...

thats because you looked for tires that would fit the factory rims, look for winter tire rim packages, and select the 16" rim packages, it'll give you a better idea

 

i paid a little over 1000 dollars for the 16" asa aluminum alloy rims with blizzaks. i couldn't find steeelies in this bolt pattern anywhere. i'm happy nontheless, though, as i will be using the rims for drag radials in the summer and snow tires in the winter, so they at least look good.
