ZZP "Stealth" H/E a failure?
ZZP "Stealth" H/E a failure?
There should be a section directed to cooling modifications on this forum so I posted here. So I installed a stock intake manifold with a dual pass in place of my ported, single pass converted manifold to find that my IAT2's at cruise are just as bad as before.
Once again, I have a 2.7" pulley, ported supercharger, option b, dual pass, phenolic spacer, and the heat exchanger from ZZP.
I have noticed lower IAT2's at WOT but I wasn't expecting insanely low temperatures. What I am complaining about is the slow recovery rate and the high cruising temperatures. My system is routed correctly so I know that isn't the problem. The only thing that I can now think of that could be causing the problem is the cheap core used in the big core. I have done a lot of reading and had a few respectable people chime in about them and I now I wonder, for those who have the same exchanger, are your temperatures high too?

you sure you bled the air in the heat exchanger? That's really high iat2 for a ~70degree day... you can literally open your option b and see if coolant is running through it... or squeeze the tube going into it to see if the coolant is running though.

My temps are high too,
Zzp srealth, ott front mount, dual pass on a 2.6 ported blower. Ive seen 180 on long pulls but im on e so I dont worry much. Hard to bleed the system

^ I do think the cores aren't that good on this exchanger.
The pump is working and I have spent quite some time bleeding it to try and get more fluid through it. It seems to be bled but I am fed up with the car. I had lower IAT2's with a stock exchanger and an OTTP exchanger

Dont let this turn into a lets compare IAT2 thread.
Compairing IAT2s is like trying to compare boost levels. There are too many variables from vehicle to vehicle to make accurate comparisions.

the "Y" fitting for the option b works the best, i have a "T" fitting in there right now and its all zip tied and crap to keep it at the correct angle to let air travel back up into the opt. b tank.
I have a clear hose coming up to my opt b tank so i can see the fluid and any air trapped inside.
but i put money on the fact that your system is not bled properly.

i also believe relocating the stock heat exchanger or removing the ac condensor it is a huge help with iat2 numbers.

i figure i was on topic here? i am not comparing anything. i just gave the info of the numbers i see with a previously mention setup. nor do i have a problem with zzp's products, as i have many of their products myself.

Only way to accurately compare is if both cars have the same exact setup, and are tested in the same exact conditions. If not, all numbers will only be a range. Obviously in terms of riceburners numbers, they are high, even w/o comparing to another setup.

Cruising to and from work today I saw a difference of 12-16 *F between ambient and IAT2 temperatures. I just installed my dual pass yesterday and I am very familiar with the coolant system. I have gone from the stock end-plate to a dual pass, to a single pass, and now back to a dual pass.
It was anywhere from ambient being 71-74*F and IAT2's were 82-86*F... I didn't make a full throttle pass because I am not feeling well today, hence why I am on the forum at the moment. To those that don't know my modifications, here is my list that has any relevance to my performance and cooling:
Ported cylinder head
Ported supercharger
LS4 throttle body; for anyone interested, it is nothing but a pain in the neck to drive with.
2.7 MPS
Phenolic spacer
Option B
Dual pass end-plate
"Stealth" H/E
Intake
Header
Downpipe that is catted
2.5" exhaust
Soon to be methanol injected once I get the system burped and I get the time to do it. I rev my engine out to 7,500RPM because I have upgraded valve springs. I think that if I started a 2nd-3rd pull from 85*F IAT2 and ended in 3rd at 7,500RPM, I think the IAT2's would be at 155ish.
