Well I put em in and all i can say is... WOW. I personally think they look way better that the stock third brake light. Maybe not more light but the light is so condensed it looks brghter. i love em.
I took some before and after shots, but, dont expect much-- camera blows. I'll post em when i can, hopefully soon.

Hey everybody! I read this post last night as i was browsing the forums, and now here it is, almost 10 pm and i have a LED 3rd brake light, with a twist... It was bound to happen as soon as some one said "Knight Rider". This was an awsome how-to thread. This is also the first mod i have done to my SS.

Thanks for all the info.

That sounds awsome. Where did you get the control box for that effect?

I actually had some old lights sitting in my closet from my "ricer" days. I believe they were called LED SWEEPER LIGHTS, they were already red LED's (9 LED's per unit) and i think i bought them for around $12 at Advance Auto here in Jacksonville, NC a few years ago. They have a 3 position switch to switch between "the Knight Rider Effect", OFF, and steady on. They are also just the right size to fit into the reflective surrounding of each of the 3 bulbs. I olny had 2 and now i need to find a third for the center of the 3rd brake light.

If you want anymore info about it just let me know. I will try to get some pics up on here if i can ever figure it out. Also if someone can tell me how to put a video on here, i will try to get a vid of K.I.T.T. as well. LOL.

Somehow get it to work only with your brakes. That way when you do hit the brakes people freak out and slam on theirs.

It is wired to the 3rd brake light harness, so it only comes on when i hit the brake pedal.

Hm, that is actually the part number for the Monte Carlo. The Impala part number is 15794273. I guess they will both work since you are just using the board.

Ever since I noticed the tC had an LED 3rd I was wondering why the Cobalt didn't. My Monte has that assembly. I might try to hit up the junkyard...

Lol! I had no idea my write up made it over here. That's funny. BTW, yes the light looks crooked in the pic, but it isn't on the car. That was a horrible cell phone camera pic.

Anyone have a full LED rear yet? Like Brake/tail Lights, Inner reverse lights, and 3rd brake light? I'd love to see a pic of that.
