that TAN/WHITE (black/white in the 04 redlines) wire for signal ("Remote Radio Audio Output (-)") does that just need to be attached to the AUX jack ground and radio ground for the headunit to recognize another AUX input on non-XM cars? Where does this wire go from the back of the headunit, the XM receiver I suppose? Can anybody test this specific wire for ground?

huh? No I didn't figure it out, I just need some help in order to do that.
like for example, someone taking out their radio and measuring the voltage on the tan/white wire to see if the xm module sends a signal to the head unit or if the xm receiver sends the head unit it a ground signal.

done and done
I skipped that PAC module. I don't know if the installers didn't know what they were doing or what, but it was a better solution to choose the method discussed here.
Made my own Zune dock and have it on my dash plugged in to the aux port, and it works great. Just wish I could set the XM channel 0 as the default channel instead of 1 so I wouldn't have to hear the stupid salesman try to sell me XM radio :P
I would put pics up, but I don't want to go outside and take crappy pics with my camera

Installed this today! Took less than an hour (doing it properly) and spent less than 10 bucks for a quality AUX cable. This works perfect and it works on all of my devices.
For the record, I used scissors for stripping and cutting wires, super glue and electrical tape for meshing the wires to each other.

I think I'm going the same direction as hawlyns. I have a non-XM car and put in an XM head unit and flashed it to my VIN. By hitting the 'source' button on the radio, it doesn't go into XM mode. So I'm thinking two things, 1. there must be a wire getting either a ground or a +12V signal to tell the radio XM is there and/or 2. it gets a communication signal from the BCM so this idea is completely SOL. Either way, I'm going to figure out the answer, but non-XMers might be stuck. I haven't seen anyone do this successfully yet, if there is an easier way, I'd love to hear it!

Had the dealer put the 6 CD unit in and program it this morning for $116. Doesn't seem as loud as the newer unit, but it works OK. It was $150 off eBay with the face plastic still on.

I have a 06 LS that's non-xm, I bought a 05-06 SC/SS MP3 grey radio with the xm plug-in in the back of the radio and had the dealership program it to the car. Correct me if I'm wrong, all I need is the xm harness to cut a splice the wires to make the AUX?
Thanks
Thanks

if your xm works then all you should have to do is use the same wires the OP uses and it should work. just not completely 100% positive because you had it installed but i believe it should work.

ive read through all the comments... i am a little confused...
i have a 2005 cobalt from states...
i do not have an option to put XM on, so im assuming i do not have it.
is my only choice to buy the thing(srry forgot the name) for approx $200 from that site other people posted?
or can i add an aux another way?

i was just on the pac website and i was wondering if i am able to use this instead of paying the full $200 for the full setup
Pac-Audio.com Product Details | iPod Integration for your car and More by Pac-Audio - Connecting you to the future
am i able to just purchase this so i can get the second plug as if there is XM installed and the use this mod to tap into the wires from the smaller connection?

If you don not have the option for XM, then this will not work.
