HOW TO: CMD Intake
here are instructions for the custom intake known as the CMD....it was designed by Wyoming_Bass and his friends...i must give credit where it is due
you will need to have some smaller sockets, electrical tape, a dremel tool, an exacto knife, and the parts listed in step 1 to do this
EDIT: and some hex sockets as well for the intake tubes...and a small breather for the valve cover
1: Go to Autozone and buy a cone filter, 1-90degree angle, 2-6inch tubes, and 1-60degree angle....this will cost somewhere around $70
2: remove your stock intake system....this is rather simple.....
3: make the hole for your MAF....here is how to do it easily.....put a piece of paper on the inside of the airbox tube(where the MAF hole is) and use a fine pen to trace the rectangle onto the paper....then cut the rectangle out of the paper.....scar the side of one of the 6inch tubes using the rectangle in the paper to trace it on.....make sure the length of the rectangle goes with the length of the tube....then use a dremel tool to cut out the hole for the MAF.....make sure to take your time and cut it smaller first and then test and cut bit by bit to get the fit right...you dont want to make the hole too big....then drill small holes to allow the mounting screws to go in easily.....you will have to use longer screws because the stock screws will not fit.....screw down the MAF....make sure to note which way you put it in so you can get the airflow direction right when you assemble the intake....
4: take some electrical tape and wrap it around the outside of the mouth of the throttle body....wrap it so that it is flush with the fins around the edge...you will see what i mean when you are doin it....this is to create an airtight seal around the throttle body......
5: assemble the tubes in this order: (Throttle body)---90degree angle---6inch tube with MAF---60degree tube---6inch tube---filter.....the tubes come with instructions on how they go together....it is rather simple...then put the breather onto the hole in the valve cover..below are picture of the final product.....
