THIS IS NOT MY ORIGINAL TUTORIAL JUST LAPILA82 SHOW IT TO ME AND THOUGHT IT WAS NICE

So there it goes :

So the door moldings, this is how I did them and it worked fine (I had the car for over a year and there's no paint damage, etc.)

1. Wash the entire car so it's nice and clean.

2. Take a hairdryer and heat up the entire molding, back and forth for of one of the moldings for about 5 minutes.

3. Take fishing line or other thin, strong string and apply until you loosen up about 6 inches, then gently pull the rest of the molding off.

4. Apply goo gone and use an old t-shirt or cloth to rub the rest of the rubber off (takes a while and is frustrating as hell! But it's worth it.)

5. Do the same for the rest of the door moldings.

6. Hand wash the car then apply a wax (Like Turtle Wax) to the freshly exposed area, might as well do the whole car while you're at it.

Then you're good to go. Here's some before and after pics:

This works for emblems too. The exact way I de-badge things.

I did this, and I guess at the factory they painted with the emblem on? Anyway, it left like a strip of paint missing almost looks like clear is not there. Looks pretty shitty.

is the car cleared before the door moldings are put on from the factory or do they clear over them. It seems that they would just clear the whole car at one time, after installing the moldings.

 

ll cobalt are all the same they just add **** to it to look more ugly or look better so yeah it was cleared before so they can use the body for an SS for example

 

i took one of mine off today and ended up puting it back on. i got all the molding off and there was still an outline! i tried goo gone and 2 other removal products and neither of those worked so then i went to advanced auto parts and got 2000 grit sandpaper and rubbing compound. i sanded a lil of one side then buffed it out and i could still see it (though not quite as much).
anyone have any suggestions???

That was a bit excessive... You should have been able to get all the sticky adhesive off. If you couldn't then use WD-40. Wash the car THOROUGHLY before AND after and wax it RIGHT AWAY. The outlines fade after a few days if you do it right.

 

^^ lapila is right! Tho me i only took it to a car wash without pressurize jet but with rubing like moth style car wash machine and i took the extrat plus with wax and it was gone with weather after 2 weeks I've cleaned it tho 3 times in this 2 weeks and now its good

It's not the rubber stuff I can't get off. There's an outline still. And I got all the rubber off

 

I had an outline too. If you already goo-gone'd, then wash it suuuuper clean, and do a hand wax with like Turtle Wax or something like that. It fades in a few weeks.
