Hi Joe,
I notice that most of the scratches on my car are white, does this mean there is a hope of buffing these off?

I tried meguiar's scratch X but it did absolutely nothing, any suggestions for me? I'd love to get rid of these scratches, what rubbing compound did you use?

THanks,
Ryan

PS: Would posting pics of the scratches help at all?

i used turtle wax brand rubbing compound, it's about $4 at wal mart.

usually if it's got a colour to it, it can be buffed out.

haha! it's not something most people would know... i mean it seems to make sense!

when i'm filming, people don't understand that an overcast day is ideal.. they get upset, "o man, it's cloudy, it's not gonna look good!"

what do you use to edit, you can probably fix that. or do you just have a very besic program.

Hey Joe,
I just want to say thank you for taking the time to do this video and answer my questions. I thought Meguiar's scratch X was a rubbing compound, I guess I wasn't pushing hard enough.

Ok, in an attempt to determine how hard you should "rub" (LoL) what kind of pressure would you use? Would you use the same pressure as say washing dishes with a cloth, sanding a piece of wood, or rubbing a baby's back? Haha, only examples I can think of; on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being hard 1 being very softly the baby would be a 2, the dishes would be a 5 and the sanding would be an 8. Lol, I dunno any other way to explain this.

Lemme know what you think,
Ryan

2-4.

what i would do is, try it on something else first. really, it doesn't take a lot of pressure at all.

Nice video how-to. I actually have some scratches to fix once I get my GM touch-up paint so this came at just the right time. +1 rep for you.

What about rubbing compound on a black car? I have a couple of scratches and i have used Meguiar's scratch X on it taking some of it out. But im afraid of using the rubbing compound on the black paint.... it seems like it scratches/ swirles easy enough as it is. Any tips?

try it in a spot that you won't really notice... like maybe a small spot under the hood where there's paint... or a neighbor's black car
