HOW TO: Flip Trunk
Time for Mod: 30-45 mins
Difficulty: Intermediate
Tools Needed:
Bench Grinder
Hammer
Medium Size Punch
Ratchet
10 or 12mm Socket (cant remember which right now)
Drill
Drill Bit
Supplies:
(2) Bolts
(2) Lock NUts
(4) Washers
ok so start this off the size bolt needed all depends on what size hole you drill in the trunk hinge to after removing the the rivet. i drilled mine to a 7/32 but you can really use whatever you want.
------------------------------------------------
1. Remove all wiring from the trunk lid and lay inside your trunk.
2. Remove trunk lid from the car leaving the trunk hinges on the car.
3. Remove the trunk hinges from the car.
4. Now locate the proper rivet on the trunk hinge and grind one side of the rivet on your bench grinder. You will have to grind it smooth to the trunk hinge.
5. Now use your punch and hammer and tap the rivet out. Be careful not to bend the hinge in any way or you will have problems later after everything is reinstalled.
6. Now here is where you can choose to drill the trunk bracket to whatever size hole you desire. Make you decision and drill the hole out. Then install you bolt with a washer thru the hinge where you just took the rivet out and place a washer and your lock nut on the outer side. Please note that you want your lock nut to be on the inside of the trunk so you can get to it after its installed on the car.
7. Reinstall your trunk brackets on the car. Make sure to line them up properly.
8. Reinstall the trunk lid. Make sure to line it up propertly.
9. Reinstall your wiring.
10. Remove your lock nut and bolt and flip your trunk toward the back of the car.
Trunk Returned to normal.
Do this mod at your own risk. Myself and CobaltSS.Net are not responsible for you messin your car up.

I was wanting to know the same thing. I put my car in shows and drive it every day. i strongly hate road noise and vibrations. (i can deal with a few)

I just really want to know about the roadnoise and if when it is "flip-flopped" if the stock wires have enough room to extend that far, cuz in the pics your wiring is not connected when it is in its modded state. let me know

i have the same modification.i have subs though in the rear deck of my car though so i couldnt honestly say there is no rattle because my stereo is loud. my wires extend far enough out..but my trunk sticks straight out..not limp because we used bolts to stabalize the trunk when its extended.this mod actually did not hinder getting in and out of the trunk. once the bolts are back in place, the trunk works like normal, still pops like a normal trunk etc.

i show my car also, i understand what you get points for. this is somewhat original (in other words you won't see it everywhere) and it draws your attention. 2 things that are very vital with the show scene. i give you props and i'm actually considering this mod myself.
